Poorly Constructed Room InteriorPosted Nov 26, 2013
While the staff were friendly and the room was clean, the workmanship on the interior of the room was of low quality. There was paint on the top of the bathroom door where masking had been done improperly. There were cracks in some of the drywall corners. I watched the building being built last year as I drove by. Looks like the labor and materials weren't good.

This place seems to get better every time I stay there. Highly recommend. Best breakfast ever!

Beautiful views, noisy roomPosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: The staff were great, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The restaurant was very good. The included breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Sound proofing of rooms.
Location: Location is close to freeway, but we couldn't hear it. The downtown area is a short drive away- we enjoyed the location. Starbucks in parking lot!
We enjoyed the river view and balcony from our room. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. However, our room was next to a conference room where live music was played and across the hall was another conference that ran late into the night and the voices were very loud. The hotel public restrooms were also adjacent to our room and the vending machine directly across from our room. Just one of those things wouldn't have been bad, but the combination of all of them spoiled the stay for my wife who is a light sleeper. Perhaps a different room would have meant a perfect stay.

Pros: The employes were great and made the stay enjoyable. The rooms were nice and we had a good rest.
Cons: everything was great for us and would recommend your facility to anyone. Thanks for the stay.
Location: Came back the second time for the drive around Mt. Hood. 1st day was the train trip.
we stayed one night and were gone to Portland three nights. We came back for a second night because of your nice facility.

Very nice hotel, but much highway & RR noisePosted Oct 18, 2013
Pros: The view; the decor, finishes and size of the room.
Cons: Change the HVAC unit so the fan can be run while using the heat or A/C to block out the noise from the road, bridge & RR tracks. Replace mattresses.
Location: Convenient to interstate, Historic Columbia River Highway, Mt. Hood
Our room was on the east end of the hotel, which is the older building, but it has been completely remodeled. Before I get to the good points, I need to mention that there is a lot of noise from cars on the nearby bridge and highway and trains (which run frequently) on the nearby track. The heating/cooling system can't be set to run the fan constantly (to drown out the road/track noise) while also running the A/C or heat. If the fan is on continuously, neither the heat or A/C can also be used. And, when the A/C or heat setting is selected, they cycle on and off so frequently, it is annoying. Just about the time I would fall asleep because the road noise was drowned out by the "white noise" from the HVAC unit, it would cycle off, wake me and I couldn't go back to sleep because of the road noise. A little later, it would come back on and the cycle would start all over...white noise, click goes the unit, road noise, click goes the unit, white noise, click goes the unit, road noise...I think you get it. Also, the mattress on the bed was not comfortable. Now for the good points. The remodeling was very well done. The room is very attractive, nicely appointed & nicely finished. The bathroom and the shower are large and a wall of windows and a patio door face the river. The view is lovely and there is even a nice little balcony with just enough room to sit and enjoy the view. There is a nice selection on the breakfast menu included in the room price & the food was great.

riverviewPosted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: location, nice room, great bed
Cons: toilet paper hard to reach from the toilet. Had to twist your body too far
Location: Mt Hood railroad
Nice view of the river with a balcony and chairs to sit on and enjoy the activity. We were there in 55 degree weather so not really much water sports going on. We were there for the scenery and Mt Hood train ride to Parkdale.

Nice hotel!Posted Sep 25, 2013
Pros: Breakfast was off the menu and free.
Location: The hotel is on the Hood River and there is a walking path to the marina. Restaurants close by.
Asked at check-in for a room not on the freeway as I am a light sleeper. There were no rooms available, however, we were offered an upgrade, took it and the penthouse suite was offered for a minimal upgrade. Lovely accomodations.

True accommodations!Posted Sep 9, 2013
Cons: Wish there had been a few more high chairs in the restaurant-we waited the whole meal and ended up holding our son instead...
Traveling on a holiday weekend with an infant to a wedding, we figured we wouldn't be at our hotel much. But it turned out we had a lot more down time and fit in a nap in the hotel, which the staff was happy to rearrange our room service during, let me borrow a pair of scissors for a project, and had all we needed for our trip. Gorgeous views of the river in the restaurant, wish we'd have read ahead and planned to bring workout and pool gear too!
