First Time in Hood River - Won't be the Last!

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: It felt more like a resort than a hotel. The menu. The pool. The receptionist, Jessica.
Cons: Better daytime security in the wings as the doors open automatically rather than with a key or card. A path to the pool, instead of lawn, also.
Location: The location is great as it's away from town (and the railroad tracks) so one still needs a car to go sightseeing and shopping.
We spent three nights at the hotel, in a ground-level, river-facing room. Very quiet, clean, well-cared for facility. The landscaping around the hotel was beautiful and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Nothing quite compares to dining on a deck overlooking the Columbia River. Everyone - from the front desk to the custodial staff - were friendly and courteous.

Great hotel next to the Columbia river

Posted May 6, 2014
What a great place to stay in Hood River. The hotel has many room options depending on your needs. We chose the King Junior Suite on the 3rd floor of the West wing (Executive level) with no children or pets. Balcony view of the river was great! The room is semi-divided with a small partition with a comfortable king bed on one side and a small sitting area on the other side with 2 flat screen tvs facing each area. There is a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The room coffee is very good. It was very quiet, and we slept like babies. There are 2 large vanities, one outside and one inside the bathroom. The bathroom has a very large shower and a tub with good complimentary toiletries. The onsite restaurant, Riverside, serves great food. The complimentary breakfasts are chosen from 8 items on the menu (no buffet here) and were very tasty. The coffee was excellent! I has some of the best salmon for dinner as well. The Cebu bar is also great and very popular with the locals. Their happy hour is for price discounted food from the restaurant when you buy at least $3 of alcohol. I can see why this is the most popular hotel in Hood River and recommend it highly!

Nice river front view - close to town

Posted Apr 29, 2014
Pros: The view! Although we didn't go into the pool or hot tub (we didn't pack clothes), it looked nice and relaxing.
Location: Downtown was a five minute drive away. A walk to the marina and park took minutes. View of the Columbia river was right outside your window.
My husband and I stayed here for our 15th year anniversary. We were very pleased with the facility - it was clean and the staff was pleasant. We stayed on the second floor (there are three levels) and the view was beautiful, overlooking the Columbia river. The landscape was gorgeous - park like setting. The hotel has an onsite restaurant/bar, and on Friday and Saturday evening a live band played and there was no cost for entry. This was a nice way to wind down in the evening. It's also a nice option if one doesn't want to leave the hotel. The restaurant food was pretty good. The hotel offers a full on hot breakfast made to order free of cost with your stay. This was a treat as it wasn't your typical continental breakfast. We will both definitely return.

Noisy room near the elevator & the stairs

Posted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: The view from the restaurant was very nice. The restaurant staff were excellent.
Cons: Move the TV closer to the bed and add extra insulation for this room as it is so close to the elevator and the stairway.
Location: Columbia River Gorge is gorgeous and Hood River is a wonderful little town.
We were disappointed with the room. The room was actually ok with the exception that the view was of the parking lot and the TV was about 20 to 25 feet from the bed which made it hard to watch the TV in bed. The location of the room was not good. It was very close to the elevator and to the stairs going from the 2nd to 3rd floor. This made wearing ear plugs mandatory.

Nice hotel with river view

Posted Apr 21, 2014
We stayed for only one night but amenities would be ideally suited for longer stay. Could walk right behind hotel and get on the paved river walkway. Free breakfast limited to a half dozen selections from the menu at the onsite restaurant. However, those selections were varied and adequate. A bonus it was a nice morning and we were able to have breakfast outside on the deck with river views. Starbucks is across hotel parking lot and hotel close to downtown Hood River.
