From Columbia River Gorge, it's about 50 miles (80 kilometers) to the west to Portland and 110 miles (177 kilometers) to the north to Tacoma.
You don't have to limit your sightseeing to the attractions of Columbia River Gorge because the whole region has been graced with plenty of wonderful cultural and natural attractions. Government Camp is approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) from Columbia River Gorge. This regional center includes a number of interesting visitor attractions, including Mount Hood Meadows, Cooper Spur Ski Area and Summit Ski Area. Mount Hood National Forest, Mount Hood Skibowl and Snow Bunny Ski Area are also good places to head to.
