Didn't have access to pool area 1 day as they were having a private party, didn't seem fair to the regular guest

This seems to sometimes be an issue when we have a conference in-house that requests to have a meal around the pool area. The hotel does have to close the pool area down during the time of the particular event. The Front Desk/Reservations should have notified you upon making your reservation that the pool was going to be closed or unavailable for a potion of your stay. I am sorry that they did not inform you of this ahead of time. I hope that everything else was fine with your stay and that you will not let this one instance with the pool being closed for a special function keep you from staying here at the Clarion in the future.

Will never stay again

Posted Apr 8, 2014
Our bathroom door didn't shut. Or toilet barely flushed. Our room was put by housekeeping and we couldn't sleep due to all the carts going back and forth all night. And the housekeeping staff yelling all night. Will not be staying here again. Waste of money!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay. I was sorry to read about the issues that you experienced in regards to the bathroom door not closing and the toilet barely flushing. I already have the maintenance department looking into fixing both of these issues. As for your room being right next to the housekeeping department. The staff in the housekeeping department does sometimes work until 10pm, but that is the latest time that they work and then they begin working again at 9am the next day, so the carts and the yelling could not have been going on all night because the last shift clocks out at 10pm and it is my guess that the yelling that you heard was possibly coming from guests and not employees. I will make sure to speak with the Executive Housekeeper to make sure that he evening work staff keeps it quiet and refrains from yelling.

The pool is very nice, full of children. Great place to entertain the kids.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay. The city of Columbus has a lot to offer visitors. The city is working diligently to revive the downtown area and there are several bars and restaurants already in operation and more are scheduled to open soon. The Commons, Kids Commons and Zaharako's are all great places to take the kids. Our hotel caters to families and business travelers and we have a lot of different amenities than your average hotel (full-service restaurant, game room, pool tables, ping pong tables, etc.) I hope that if you are in the area again that you will choose to stay at the Clarion!

Read the fine print

The hotel is just fine albeit noisy since it is very large. The kids enjoy the pool. The only issue was with breakfast service, which is advertised to be included in the room price, which is true on weekdays but not weekends. The only exception is if you are a member of their frequent guest club.

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay. Yes, the hotel can be noisy at times especially when we are fully booked during Spring Break or when there are ball teams in house. The hotel does have Quiet Hours from 10pm to 7am Sunday through Thursday and 11pm to 7am on Friday and Saturday nights. We due this out of respect for our guests. The breakfast is included with the price of the room, but only Monday through Friday. There is a charge for breakfast on Saturday and Sundays except for those guests that are Elite Choice Privilege members. The hotel is a great place for both families and business travelers alike. I hope that if you are in the area again, that you will choose to stay at the Clarion!

Thank you for your nice comments about your recent stay. I definitely agree with you that the pool at the hotel is a great size as compared to pools of other hotel chains. We take great pride in our pool and hot tub area. I will be passing on the nice comment about the breakfast being wonderful to the Food and Beverage Director. I travel quite a bit and I am not biased when I say that our hotel has one of the best breakfast's around.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay. I was sorry to read that you experienced issues with the fan in your room running all night long. I do not know if this issue was reported to the maintenance department or not, but if it was, I am sure that they would have looked into fixing the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to rate your recent stay. I was sorry to see that you encountered problems or were dissatisfied with the comfort and service that you received from our staff here at the Clarion. You did not leave any comments so I have to guess that you rated either our Front Desk staff and/or the Dining Room staff as lower with a 2 and that there were issues with the comfort of your room either having to due with the bed and pillows or HVAC system. Either way, I hope that you will allow us to make changes and improvements and consider staying with us again when you are in the area.

Noisy All Night

Posted Mar 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
Disappointed that my room was next to a concrete walkway where staff was constantly rolling carts and buckets by the room into the evening. Turning on the heating and air/c unit to have the fan blow helped some to block out the noise. Would not stay there again.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay. Your room was located in the back section of the hotel where the housekeeping department is located. The hours of operation for the housekeeping department is Sunday through Sunday 9am to 10pm. After that time there should not be any carts or buckets coming through this area. This was a problem in the past and I thought that the problem had been resolved. I will speak with the Executive Housekeeper to make sure that carts are not being brought into this area after 10pm for the courtesy of our guests.

Not the luxury we expected

All the advertised amenities were nice but all closed at ten pm and did not reopen until nine am at which time the game room was still closed. As a third shift worker i could enjoy none of them. Lobby and entrance doors did not lock anyone could walk up and access them. Room was located on a concrete hallway that was outdoors. There was water running from the bathtub faucet. When maintenance was told of the water leak they said this hotel does so on purpose in any outside room. This hallway is used by the staff for cleaning and laundry purposes so the were wheeling carts up and down it all night. Creating such a racket as to make sleep fitful if not impossible. When asking for a spoon to eat the ice cream i had just purchased I was informed "We are out you can go to Walmart and buy one." The bed was uncomfortably stiff.

Thank you for taking the time to comment about your recent stay. The hours of operation for the pool and the amenities in the pool area are 9am to 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 9am to 11pm on Friday and Saturdays. At closing time a Quiet Zone is enforced. This is so that the guests that are staying in the rooms around the pool can have a restful nights sleep. The back area of the hotel in which you stayed is where the housekeeping department is located. They begin work at 9am and stop work at 10pm. There should not be any carts coming or going in this area other than for these times. I was sorry to read that a member of our staff told you that we were out of spoons and that you could go to Wal-Mart to purchase one in which to eat your ice cream. This is completely unacceptable and I will be discussing this matter with the Food and Beverage Director so that this does not happen again. I am sorry that you had a bad experience at our hotel, but I do hope that you will provide us with the chance to make improvements and hopefully stay with us again when you are in the area.
