You get what you pay for

The price was great. As an extended stay studio apartment, it worked well. I appreciated the space and full kitchen. The overall condition is commensurate with the cost of the room.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Columbus North

Posted Nov 2, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: It could be more clean.
Location: Highway is close by
The room was ok. I was cold at night and the room only had one very think blanket in the closet. The handle bar next to the toilet was loose. Someone in the next building had a small dog and there was dog poop all around the bushes in several different places around the building sitting on top of the landscape gravel stones. I was looking forward to hash browns at breakfast like before and there were none.

Hotel with space

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: Good value especially for an extended stay.
Cons: Could be upgraded. Needed a new couch.
Location: Right next to hwy 71 so easy to get around. About 5 minutes from State Fairgrounds.
We were upgraded to the penthouse room which worked well for us. Downstairs king bedroom with bathroom and living area with kitchen, up stairs loft bedroom with double bed and bathroom. No elevator so need to be able to carry luggage up a flight of stairs. Room was adequately clean and beds very comfortable. Beds had the nice washable white bedding. Location is a little sketchy, several rough looking people out walking in neighborhood. No one bothered us but I sure wouldn't walk around at night. Heat/air conditioning worked well. Highway noise could be heard but wasn't a big problem. Breakfast was decent.

Deplorable conditions

Posted Oct 26, 2014
This hotel was grossly misrepresented online. The conditions were so poor that my husband and I left, even though it was a pre-paid, non-refundable reservation. It was a non-smoking room, but clearly had been smoked in a lot. Sadly, the stale smoke smell seemed to be masking worse smells. Filth was everywhere, and in fact, there was an open bag of garbage laying outside the door when we arrived. The linens on the bed were the only clean looking thing in the whole suite, but we weren't taking any chances staying here. The smoke had already started bothering my allergies, but the thought of rodents, cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs were running rampant through our minds. The sofa was disgustingly dirty, as was most everything else. Duct tape was holding the filthy sofa together. The oven was ready for the dump. The carpet was disgustingly filthy with large rips, presenting a danger for trips and falls. The bathroom sink was dripping, and the finish on the mirror frame was peeling everywhere. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and lotion had been used. Dirt and grime covered the walls. The grounds were not the best kept, but better than the inside. The close up look of the buildings looked pretty dingy, especially near the suite entrances. The employee at the front desk seemed very nice, but the suite was deplorable. I wouldn't let a dog stay there. Contrare to what online pictures show, there was nothing clean or updated in our first floor suite. Run away from this place!

Hotel getting a little worn

Posted Oct 24, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: I think its time to do a complete remodel.
Location: It's about 10 miles from Downtown Columbus and right off the highway so very easy access to downtown.
The hotel suited our purpose before the Columbus Marathon and location is close to highway. Check-in was fine and they extended our check-out which was nice. We had stayed at the hotel 3 our 4 years ago and it is starting to show it's age. The room was clean but the carpet was a little ragged, paint on interior doors worn off, bed was sagging.

Nice room. Great price.

Posted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Bed was very comfortable, room clean, convenient to have kitchen.
Cons: There was standing water in the dishwasher and a large spot on the carpet was wet. It was right where you had to walk on it, not avoidable.
Location: Large grocery store in walking distance. Nice area to walk around for a walk.
Great room and comfortable. There was a fireplace in the room, but we never used it. It was like living in an efficiency apartment.

Stay while relative at OSU Medical Center

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Pros: Price and decent breakfast.
Cons: Some repair, painting and patching.
Location: Right off I-71. 10 miles from OSU Medical Center. Wasn't interested in thing to do, just place to stay.
A little run down on the outside. Handrail to 2nd floor not attached. Had stink bug crawl on my wife's CPAP machine within a few minutes of settting up. Shower rod was about to fall from one end, Nice staff. Free hot breakfast (a little better than continental). No enough parking. People parking outside their doors along curb because lot full making it hard to back out. Overall, for the price I would stay again. The area is not in it's heyday anymore. Another company's suites near this one was boarded up.

Nice hideaway in Columbus

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: Breakfast was good, but I loved the fireplace. When it gets colder and I have a special someone, I intend on going back to enjoy the fireplace.
Cons: I spoke with the manager about the one issue I had and he said he would address it soon.
Location: I went to a store that I had never heard of before. I spent hours shopping and I bought almost a new wardrobe including shoes. Had a blast!
I needed to get away for the weekend. I booked the room on Friday and arrived Friday evening. The bed was comfortable and it was easy to get to from I-71. There was a full kitchen with a microwave and dishwasher. Since I do not swim, this did not effect me personally. However, the pool is outdoors and was closed for the season. For those who want to swim, check the availability of the pool. I would probably use this hotel for my next weekend getaway to Columbus.
