Decent hotel close to Starkville

Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: Desk clerk was MOST helpful and polite.
We stayed overnight while in Starkville for a football game. The first non-smoking room I was offered reeked of smoke. the desk clerk was very kind and offered keys to three other rooms so that we could choose another. The second room also smelled of smoke but the other two were fine. The beds were clean and comfy although one coverlet had a tear in it. The vents were VERY dusty - like years of dust in there. Might be a problem for those with allergies. Although the bathrooms were VERY clean there was a mildew smell. Probably from those dusty vents. Would stay elsewhere and pay more if possible, but if not this is a decent alternative.

Decent hotel on a budget

Posted Oct 24, 2012
Pros: price, clean, and close to Highway.
Cons: lack of electrical outlets made it difficult for plugging in electronics (chargers, laptop, etc).
Location: Conveniently close to Hwy 82 bypass
Although an older hotel, it seemed to be well taken care of. Front desk clerk was friendly, check in was quick, and the room was clean. Furnishings were sparse, but as can be expected for the very low price. Columbus hotels tend to be a little over priced but not this one. Did suffer a lack of convenient electrical outlets but made do. Would stay here again when on a budget. Very convenient to the Hwy 82 bypass.

Great Hotel for McDavid Family

Posted Jul 13, 2012
Cons: TV and the light switch did not work with any light
Location: good
The room was clean, the only thing I would suggest is to have the light switch conneted to some lighting ficture so that it comes on when you enter the room, otherwise everything was good.

Spend more and stay in a safer place!

You get what you pay for, and I will not stay there again. The first room (1st floor) I was given smelled like an ashtray, the door lock was broken and I did not feel safe there. The room I ended up staying in had three bad bulbs over the vanity and the desk light was missing the bulb. I had to go get one from the front desk and it ended up being bad too. The ice machine was making a horrible noise and the next day it wasn't even working. People were yeling and running up and down the outer corridor until 10 PM and management didn't seem to know or care. It is in a bad location...spend more and stay in a safer place.

A pleasant experience.

Pros: The staff was accomodating during all conversations
Cons: The rug in my room was clean, but had seen better days.
Location: The location was great, easy access to the main east-west highway through the area.
I had stayed at this property when it was a Hampton Inn and was sceptical about whether it had changed. I was pleasantly impressed with the professional attitudes of all members of the staff I encountered. They are proud of the property and it shows.
