“Great hotel for OSU Football Games”

I found this hotel while searching for a place to stay while going on an away game trip to Ohio State. The rates were great and the location was even better! We were able to walk right across the road to get to campus. We rarely needed to drive anywhere since stores and restaurants were in walking distance. While the hotel wasn't the best quality room I've been in, it worked for a quick football weekend. Only thing that wasn't fantastic were the towels- small and rough- next time I will just bring one from home. Overall, it was a great room for what I needed!

“Pleasantly surprised!”

Our room was clean and neat. The beds were comfortable. Close to restaurants and the Ohio Stadium. The only downside was that our room was in the back of the building and near the train tracks. The train went by at least 3 times during the night when we were sleeping.

“Not the best, but I would go back”

A motel that is not the newest or in perfect shape, but it was fine to stay in and the staff seemed pretty nice. We were able to walk most places we needed to, including the football stadium. The walk was a little lengthly to the stadium, but we could have easily caught a short cab ride there and back if needed.

“Motel - Hotel”

Varsity Inn South was a solid motel at a good price. Clean, comfortable enough, and conveniently located. I say "Motel"because you drive up to the doors, so the noise level reflects that. But even after a big Buckeye win on Homecoming night, we slept well from midnight to seven. I would have expected to hear every excited fan returning, and it was not too bad. We watched the last play of the game and walked back to the room in 10 minutes. They even have drive up check in, coffee and decent showers. The refrigerator vibrated noisily with a microwave on top (easy fix, and nice to have both in the room) The bathroom light switch also turned on the noisy fan (should have been a separate switch, if that's legal?). We rented a car, but it's not necessary, unless you plan to go to the zoo and outlying attractions. There are plenty of places to eat within a short walk; and south campus is just over the river ( 5 minute stroll). "It ain't the Ritz", as my old coach used to say. But it's value lodging, within walking distance to the "Shoe".

“Basic OSU Lodging”

Very nice staff.. Gathered and mailed items we had left in room. ++ Clean linens. Not enough towels. Small room for 4. Barking dog, next door. Decent, basic lodging very close to OSU campus.

“Great for events at OSU”

This location is within walking distance of OSU's Medical Center, James Cancer Hospital, and Ohio Stadium. There is convenient access to shopping and restaurants. The room was nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed. My main critiques are that the bathroom fixtures were somewhat corroded and the bathroom in general looked run down compared to the rest of the room. When people in adjoining rooms turned water on, the pipes were very loud.

“Met Expectations”

The staff was nice and helpful. The hotel was close to Ohio State, restaurant, shops, and the movie theater. The construction going on next door was slightly annoying, but that is only temporary and should not deter someone from staying here. I am happy we made the choice to stay here.
