Pros: location to stadium
Cons: Wall off the train noise
Location: shopping, dining and closeness to stadium
Did not like the trains going by all night. Some other loud guests near our room.

Not what is picturedPosted Nov 11, 2013
Horrible place for the money, train runs through behind the hotel 4-6 times a night from 10:30-11:00pm on. Pool inoperative.

After I read the reviews I was worried about staying; however, it was much better than expected. The room was small, but nice and clean. We were close to what we were doing and only there to sleep... so it was perfect.

Nice hotel conveniently located near OSU.Posted Nov 5, 2013
Cons: It is a little outdated and could use a slight facelift.
Location: It is close to OSU, downtown, Short North, German Village. It is pretty easy to get around to any parts of Columbus from there.
Nothing particularly exciting. It is pretty much what I expected.

High Hopes, But Fell ShortPosted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Close proximity to stadium.
Cons: New refrigerator, paint room with sealer to kill smoke smell, replace carpet.
Location: North Market, Elevator Brewing, Easton Mall
We recently went to a football game at a local university in Columbus and decided to stay at this hotel due to its close proximity to the stadium. Upon arriving the front counter person seemed a bit disheveled, but overall pleasant. We inquired about our room and were told our room was a non-smoking room. We were elated...and then immediately disappointed. Upon opening the door to our room we were immediately hit with an overwhelming stench of cigarette smoke. We immediately left in search of a place to buy something to try and kill the reeking stench. Air freshener in hand along with a spray promising to kill any odor we re-entered the room and proceeded to fumigate it. We sprayed everything...bed, carpet, furniture, walls. We left to get something to eat. Upon returning the smell, though lessened, was still present. To our further dismay we were also placed in a handicap accessible room, i.e. no tub for my wife to soak in and try and enjoy a small comfort. In fact, the shower was incredibly awkward. In any event, we placed our drinks in the refrigerator only to discover several hours later that they were warm. I looked and the thermostat was off so I turned it on. More hours passed and drinks are even warmer. Traced the cord and it was UNPLUGGED! Turns out there was a splitter with several other plugs, which looked like a fire hazard. In the end, the refrigerator was worthless and dripped water from the "freezer". Also, comforter had large burn holes in it.

Pros: The location.
Cons: Could use some upgrades. The motel is showing its age. Could use new towels as well.
Location: Good location. With walking distance to restaurants, OSU, and shops.
Stayed at the Varsity Inn after attending the Ohio State night game. The Varsity Inn is within walking distance to everything we wanted/needed. We parked and never drove again until we left Sunday. The motel is showing its age. The "Mini King" room is a good description of our room. The room is a corner room, so part of the room is taken in by the outdoor stairwell. The room was clean, no bedbugs (we checked!!) The bed was comfortable, but there was not a lot of extra room.

OK hotelPosted Oct 26, 2013
Did not have a lot of interaction with staff...but it was not an overly warm checkin...location next to railroad tracks was not too distracting. Room was clean...did not expect more for the price.

weekend stay in ColumbusPosted Oct 7, 2013
Pros: location. Nothing else.
It was not a good stay. We checked in around 2 but the room was not ready, so we were to pick up keys later. My daughter was also staying there so we asked if she could get keys for us when she checked in. they said yes , so she picked up keys as we were going to be quite late getting back to the hotel. Went to our room around 2 am, keys wouldn't work so we went to have the activated, they did that at the front desk. Go back to room, open door and the room was occupied by other people. Finally ended up getting a 1 bed room, non smoking. We had reservations for 2 bed room, smoking. All in all it was a terrible experience. I feel I should get a refund on this reservation. l
