“Going Home”

The hotel offers very comfortable apartments and we have now stayed there four times. We used to stay at hotels in Rouen. We tried several and we had no complaints because they were all were comfortable. The difference at the Deux Amants is that you don't get a room, you get a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms with all the facilities you could ask for. We stay for a couple of nights as we travel from the Midlands down to the South of France. It has become a home from home for us and allows us to rest before cvontinuing the journey. It also allows you to visit tourist sites on the trip: Versailles, Giverny, Honfleur, Bayeux, the beaches,etc. An additional point is the friendliness of the staff. When we were late arriving one night, the hotel staff rang us to see if we were okay! Brilliant. I have seen comments about the lack of a restaurant, but the apartments have all the vcooking equipment you mighty need. We shop before we arrive. We prefer it. We eat what we want, when we want. It really is like going home.

A very warm welcome at reception and a superb apartment. We have stayed at the hotel 6 times now. Each time in a different apartment and each time the apartment has been excellent. The hotel is in an excellent location, not far from Rouen and Giverny, and for us it is a perfect and relaxing break on a long journey between the Midlands and the south of France.

“Tall people beware-not what you expect”

When I booked the room initially on the internet, the room pictured looked just fine. However, when we got to our room it was at the top of the inn on the third floor. The ceilings were slanted and being tall people we kept hitting our heads. The kitchen was very strange. it was divided into two spaces. The stove top was over the washing machine and the oven was in the living area. Also the dishes were kept in a dresser that had the tv on top--so everytime you needed dishes you had to disturb the people watching tv. The kitchen counter was under the eaves so it was quite impossible for us to use this area. The sofa bed was had a broken slat so my son had to sleep backward on the mattress. When we questioned why we got this room (which was not like the one pictured on the site) we were told that there was no other rooms available for us to switch (by the manager) We looked at the vacated rooms on the second floor and they were very nice as we had expected. We asked to have someone fix our sofa bed and no one ever addressed the problem. There was one sweet girl at the desk who apologized for our room and our situation stating that she would give us another room but she would get in trouble.. Another issue was that the bathroom did not have a shower--only a shower spray in the tub so it was very difficult to take a bath in a small tub. If you decide the stay here make sure you get a first or second floor apartment. The area surrounding the inn is stunning.
