Maintenance Issues

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Cons: Staff is friendly, but makes promises that they do not keep.
Planned to stay one night - New Year's Eve - arrived at 5:00pm; room was 62 degrees; called Maintenance; they arrived and fussed with the heater; 1 hour later, still only 63 degrees; called maintenance again; someone else came and fussed with the heater; 1 hour later, 64 degrees; 8 pm - leaving for New Year's Eve party - spoke in person at Service Desk - she promised that she would send someone up at 9 - 9:30 and if the room was still cold, she would call my cell to see if I wanted to change rooms. Arrived back at room at 1 am - never got the call; room was 65 degrees; At this point we were tired and too late to change rooms - we had extra blankets sent up and spent a cold night. Maintenance told me that the emphasis is on keeping room cool during Houston summers, but I have my doubts about that also.

On behalf of our entire staff, I sincerely apologize for the maintenance issues you experienced on your recent stay at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa and that you had to spend an uncomfortable, cold night. As with most mechanical and technical equipment, maintenance issues do arise from time to time, and we do have an ongoing maintenance scheduled for all of our heating units. We will look into and identify what the cause of the issue was and correct it immediately, so that none of our guests are inconvenienced moving forward. I apologize again for the inconvenience caused and hope you will consider giving us another opportunity so we can make it up to you. Sincerely, Managing Director La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa

Yuck.

Posted Dec 5, 2014
Pros: Balcony in room.
Cons: Need more staff on hand at checkin, bell stand, and cafe. Need newer standard size mattresses. Rooms with adjoining doors or a family suite.
Most memorable part of our two-night, two-room stay is waiting in line. 30 minute wait to check-in, with only 2 people in line in front of us. 20 minute wait to buy breakfast at the cafe, with only one adult and her child in front of us. Needed a bell cart (or bell service) at check-in, there was no one there and no cart. Standard mattresses were very uncomfortable. There was an additional "resort fee" per night per room that added eighty dollars to our stay that was unexpected. A bit of a walk from parking lot to hotel. If there's another option nearby, we won't stay here again.

It was disheartening to read your review about your recent stay experience at our hotel. We pride ourselves on our customer service and I am extremely sorry that you experienced slow and inattentive service during your stay. We will be using your feedback to identify issues that caused the delay and will take corrective action. We also apologize that our resort fees were not clearly communicated to you before your stay with us. Because we are a large resort, we do charge a separate fee for the use of amenities while you are on the property; this fee is so that we can offer our many services year-round without interruption. We will work to make sure that is clearly communicated throughout the reservation process. Please know that we use your comments to continually improve the overall resort experience, and we hope to earn your repeat business. Sincerely, Managing Director La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa

Decently nice hotel, but very inept staff

Posted Dec 2, 2014
Pros: Nice having a suite with an actual separate room, not just a dividing wall.
Cons: Get RID of the stupid & deceiving "Resort Fee" and roll those charges into the room charge! It'd be nice to have a sink near fridge in living room.
Location: We had lunch at World's Burgers about 3 miles away & were very pleased with that small place. Good, fast food & great service.
My wife & I stayed there 2 nights w/ our 6 month old b/c it had a suite w/ a separate room. The rooms were pretty nicely decorated and clean. Bathroom was very big and nice too. But a few quirks: There was no sink in the living room (only sinks are in the bathroom which is off the BR separate from the living room). So if you want to use a sink at all (we did several times) after your baby is down, you'd better be ready to tiptoe quietly. Also, a small but strange thing was that there was no portfolio book anywhere to be found containing info about the hotel, restaurants, or resort amenities. You know, the kind of portfolios that about every hotel in the history of mankind has. All we were given was a physical map of the resort. When I called to ask about a portfolio, the girl at the front desk seemed at a loss. She had another employee (who was equally clueless) up to our room with a simple paper map of the resort, which we already had. Even more surprising than the fact there was no such portfolio anywhere was the fact that the staff seemed almost surprised that I'd even ask. This was not a huge deal to us not to have one- but c'mon people, have you ever stayed at a hotel before? ALSO A WARNING- THEY TACK ON A $ 20/night "RESORT FEE" to your stay regardless of what resort options you use (or don't use) and moreover no matter which resort options are even open during that time of year. I think that's deceptive so they can advertise lower rates than is really tr

Thank you so much for your review of your recent stay with us at La Torretta Lake Resort. We'd like to apologize for the room and bathroom issue regarding the separate location of the sink and keeping the noise to a minimum for other family members resting. We apologize that our resort fees were not clearly communicated to you before your stay. Because we are a large resort, we do charge a resort fee for use of our amenities while on property, the fee is so that we can offer many of these year round without interruption. We'll work to make sure that is clear throughout the reservation process. Lastly, we are in the process of creating a compendium for our resort for guests to refer too. Please know that we are continually improving the overall resort experience and hope to earn your repeat business. Sincerely, Managing Director La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa

Not Impressed

Posted Dec 1, 2014
The beds are the most uncomfortable I have slept on this year. Maid never cleaned the room on the second day. The hotel charges a $20 a night "resort fee" for internet, golf, and water parks Did not come for any of those activities. The best employees are the valets, good job guys.

Not worth the money

I decided to spend our honeymoon at this resort. I was disappointed as soon as we walked into our room. Our toilet had a huge leak, we tried dinner at 157 and it was horrid, and we had spiders in our room...I would have had better time at the Hilton or Holiday Inn for this....Grade D

Expected Better. at this Price Point

Booked a stay with transportation to and from Renfest. Transportation was an hour late. On check in, I was upgraded to a cottage; Bonus! However, either raccoons or squirrels were living in the attic and kept me awake all night running back and forth. Overall, a decent hotel with mediocre service.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that your room had an insect issue, we also apologize that the AC was not working. It seems like the two issues may be corresponding as insects get into the rooms the most through open doors and windows. We do apologize that this issue was not addressed before your check-in or that their wasn’t a quicker response from the supervisor you spoke with to get you a new room. This is not standard of service at La Torretta. I am glad you brought this to our attention and we will work on improving the overall guest experience. We hope you give us another chance to provide you with a wonderful stay. Sincerely, Lauren Dunnaway Director of Sales
