“Good experience - nice stay”

I was somewhat familiar with this hotel, having lived in Oneonta for three years. We picked it because it was close to Cooperstown and not far from Oneonta (where we were taking our daughter for the college's Open House). Our room was very nice and comfortable. The pool and whirlpool were a blessing, and the breakfast was very nice. All around, I felt it was a really good value for the money, and I would definitely stay there again.

“Would recommend if you don't need WiFi”

The WiFi in the rooms and in the lobby is very slow. Dial-up is actually faster, believe it or not. That's not an exaggeration! The hotel is very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The only other thing that I would change would be the microwave oven in the rooms. You have to guess as to how long to microwave your food. Following the package directions doesn't work. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again.

Area recommendations
The Baseball Hall of Fame is great for kids and baseball lovers. I was in Cooperstown for a convention, so I didn't get a chance to do a bunch of tourist-y things.
When to go
Spring and Summer are the times to go. Not much is open during the Fall and Winter.

“Quiet, comfortable and helpful staff”

It was a really comfortable place that was convenient to our meetings. There was one desk staff (male) who was on the first night of our stay, who recommended a great restaurant that we would never have picked (looked a bit seedy but food was excellent), so I was happy that I asked. Would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Area recommendations
This area of Cooperstown (actually not in Cooperstown but on the outskirts) is near the baseball Dream Park) and doesn't have a lot going on in the off season. If you are looking for good food, go to the Chinese restaurant in the shopping plaza next door. The food is really good and you can bring it back to your room.

“A Good Best Western Hotel”

Our stay was good. Hotel is close to Cooperstown; had stores in the complex. A good hot & cold buffet breakfast was included. The only comment was that the exhaust fan in bathroom did not work.

Area recommendations
Cooperstown is close and features the Baseball Hall of Fame and Otsego Lake.

“Can be better”

The fitness room was one of the worse I have been in. You needed a key to use the treadmill and the noise from the treadmill was deafening. The Universal machine was very hard to use and the step machine was unsafe. Those three pieces of equipment was it for the room which was very small and crampt.

“Baseball Season - Be Prepared”

During the summer (post-Memorial Day) rates are higher and are so because of demand not because of special amenities. During the summer the hotel is almost a hostel to traveling little league teams which seems hectic at times. In spite of the activity, our room was quiet. The staff was prompt, courteous and helpful. The hotel is in a pleasant setting a few minutes from Cooperstown. Unlike many of the "lodges" along the road, this place has 3 fast food stops and a general store next to the premises.

Getting there
From Albany it is an 1 hour 30 minute drive, mostly on the interstate.
Getting around
Cooperstown has limited parking. There is a trolley that runs around town and out to parking. Parking fee changes with the season.

“Very nice hotel which we would enjoy using again.”

The hotel was clean and the workers were friendly. They enjoyed recommending to us places to eat. The Pool area was clean and had plently of towels to use. This is a great place to stay.

Family-friendly activities
There were great places to see during our stay in Cooperstown. The Winery and Breweries were great. We even enjoyed Fly Creek.

“Great Family Hotel”

The hotel is in a suburban setting adjacent to a shopping center with a grocery store and several kid-friendly restaurants which proved to be helpful for my family. The front desk and maintenance staff are outstanding and very professional and courteous. The room was much more than expected with a microwave and fridge not to mention the generous size, perfect for a long weekend stay to see this beautiful northern New York town. Check-in and out were seamless and there were no surprises for us, just a relaxing weekend at a comfortable family style, chain hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially those with kids, the accommodations are so perfect!! Side note; even though there were many kids and families, the hotel is very quiet, so business travelers can get peace and quiet as well.

Area recommendations
All areas of this city are laid back and comfortable.
What to pack
Check the weather, it snows in October!!!

“Cooperstown Review”

Inn was very convenient to area attractions and easy to get to and fro. Great breakfast buffet. Did not use the pool or jacuzzi, but they looked very inviting. Location was away from major traffic, so quiet. View from our room was of beautiful hills and countryside. Good selection of brochures on area attractions. Well maintained.

Area recommendations
Baseball Hall of Fame- very well done; held the interest even ofa non-baseball fan; surrounding hills and roads- for fall leaf-viewing; Fenimore Museum of Art- beautiful old home of Steven Clark- great antiques; and the art of John Singer Sargent was some of the most moving I've ever seen; Farmer's Museum: very educational and attractive to walk around- lots to see and learn!
When to go
Go in the fall before Columbus Day: attractions all open- but avoid the crowds. Cooperstown is a wonderful place, but has few really great restaurants, and it must be difficult to time activities during "the season."
Nightlife
Not much to do at nighton a weeknight in the fall. Not even a movie theatre. We wished therefore, that the hotel had moreTV channels- or a bar.
Outdoors or beach
Otesaga Lake (please chek spelling) is beautiful. We drove all the way around it, and saw spectacular views and country roads all the way. Beautiful park and beach at the North end, although these were closedf or the season by then.
