“Will definitely stay here again”

While the Hickory Grove motor inn is a few miles from Cooperstown, its value for the price makes it well worth the short drive needed to get into town. The hotel staff was very friendly, the room was comfortable (beds especially!), clean, and quiet. The serenity of being "up the lake" and the view from the chairs on the lawn made for a very relaxed and comfortable stay. I definitely recommend this motel!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hickory Grove Motor Inn and we were very happy with the room and the staff. We had a beautiful view of Lake Otsego and we are planning on going back next year. Its a beautiful area to visit with great views and the farms are beautiful. We went to the Baseball Hall of Fame which was right down the road from the Motor Inn it was great.I will deffinately reccommend The Hickory Grove Motor Inn to all of my friends.

“Decent Value”

Good location close to Cooperstown, picturesque view over the lake. Friendly service. Rooms were clean, but few amenities. Much less expensive than hotels right in Cooperstown. Staff was helpful in suggesting restaurants and sights. This motor inn was close to trolley stop which avoided hassle of trying to park in town. For the price a decent value.

“Friendly and comfortable, not fancy”

We were greeted warmly and given helpful advice and information. Our room had a great view of the lake through an extra-large window. Furnishings were acceptable but not luxurious. Not in the center of town by any means, but an easy drive.

When making this reservation, I was a little apprehensive because it was a motel, and it was privately owned, so there was no way to apply a benchmark from which to base our expectations. I booked the room and hoped for the best. (Lodging in the area was limited and pricey due to events in the area which boosted demand for room nights.) The check in process was friendly, prompt and painless. Upon check in, we opened the door to our room were pleasantly surprised. It was clean and bright (not "tired" and outdated as we somewhat feared), and we felt safe in our room and in the area in which the motel was located. No frills, but we didn't expect any. We had the basics and they were as good or better than we'd expected. Granted, the shower (stall) was small, but it was adequate and we had enough hot water to enable us to clean up sufficiently. The property is situated along Ostego Lake, which was viewable from our window: very relaxing! :-) Fresh, hot coffee was available in the mornings along with pastries/bagels/toast for anyone wishing to enjoy a quick bite to eat before beginning their day. All in all I would say that this motel was a great find, and we would not hesitate to stay there again. At least we would stay there again as long as I do not gain too much weight to fit in the shower stall, LOL!!! Maybe the next time they remodel they should consider installing larger shower stalls or small tub/showers....even if it means getting rid of the "closet". :-)

“exterminator”

At 8:30 in the morning outside exterminator appeared at door pounding and shouting that he needed to come in. We politely declined. Moltel management late said that they had no idea exterminator would do that and did not authorize it
