Spectacular suitePosted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: Comfortable and spacious room with ample free parking.
Cons: Tea service in room
Location: 10 minute walk to city center where the pubs and dining was abundant.
We stayed in the corner room which was spectacular and huge. Although the room was huge (bedroom, dining area and living room) there was no tea service (we needed to call front desk for it), no hand soap and could not adjust the shower ... it was far too hot. Nice short walk to downtown.

Great location!Posted Aug 14, 2014
We stayed at the Ambassador hotel for 2 nights. Our room was lovely, breakfast was delicious, and the hotel was within walking distance to downtown.

Very nice hotelPosted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Everything and in particular the lovely staff
Cons: Nothing really
Location: A little bit away from the town centre but worth it
the hotel is very nice having recently been renovated. Our room was great and wanted for nothing. In particular the friendliness of the staff was stood out for us, everyone was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. I guess the only negative is the location as it is a little out of the main town but we enjoyed walking down the hill and took taxis when we were not feeling energetic. Overall we had a lovely time and I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a fab hotel.

Good hotel but lacks airconPosted Jul 29, 2014
Older hotel with recent extension. Stayed in extension. Stayed in good size room in mansard roof. Disappointed not to have aircon as top story very warm and stuffy. Surprised this was not incorporated when extension built. Staff pleasant and helpful. Good sized car park. Convenient for city centre albeit all uphill on way back. Would suggest taxi to return.

A Good 4* Hotel With Period Quality and Character.Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Period quality.
Cons: Get rid of the books in the dining room which detract from the restaurant atmosphere and makes it feel like eating in a library.
The staff were helpful and efficient and the rooms clean and well furnished. The restaurant food and service was excellent and the parking and Cork views great. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice Building, shame about the facilities, staffPosted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: The building.
Cons: Looking after their customers, and looking at the bigger picture rather than short term gain.
Lift not working, Sauna not working, new TV in room not working.

Overlooking Cork CityPosted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Pretty much everything.
Cons: Modernise the lift? It is 60 years old. Spare parts difficult to get!
Location: Cork City is a former City of Culture. Plenty to do. Nearby are Kinsale (beautiful), Blarney Castle, Cobh etc. Killarney drivable as a day trip.
The bar/dining area (now called McGettigans) totally refurbished and modernised (May 2014). Took a bit of getting used to (this was our fourth stay) but newcomers will probably love it. Menu much more extensive and daily 'specials' as well. Staff very helpful with cases when lift broke down on departure date. spare part not instantly available.

Ideal LocationPosted Jun 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
It's in an ideal location. Service was a bit slow in the bar. The food was tasty. Staff friendly. Room was clean and basic.

Excellent in every wayPosted Jun 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
We cannot fault this Hotel. The room was superb with a really comfortable bed and lots of space. Super view too. Staff friendly and courteous. Food good. We would stay there again. We were able to walk round Cork from the Hotel so the car didn't have to be used.

Nice hotelPosted Jun 19, 2014
A big track up a big hill to get there, but hotel was nice. Breakfast was expensive and service was crap, so only did it one out of 2 mornings. Room was nice and bed comfy, but felt like miles away from hotel reception. Overall I'd stay there again.
