Comfortable hotel in a very quiet locationPosted Sep 23, 2013
Pros: Old world ambience
Cons: The approach drive.
Location: On the edge of Bodmin moor, standing well back from the road making for a very quiet night. Walking.
This hotel is a Victorian mine owners house with a mdern accomadation added,The old part has a lot of the Victorian furniture making it warm and inviting.

Beautiful viewsPosted Aug 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
Everything was great, the only fault I can tell is after coming back late after being out all day they had been in the room to make the bed etc and had left the window open so was freezing cold

casual enviroment with wonderful viewsPosted Aug 5, 2013
Terrific setting overlooking the tamar valley with bodmin moor behind. Farm animals run freely about and has a lovely casual feel to it. Spent 3 nights there with the best one first night when a heap of musos turned up and partied away for the evening. Great free entertainment. Close proximity to cornwall attractions but away from busy crowded towns, which is what we look for.

Great hotel for family, OR a romantic weekend!Posted Aug 3, 2012
Pros: Welcoming hoteliers! We felt really at home. Rooms good. Guest lounge good. Bar/eating good.
Cons: Couple of cleanliness issues on crockery, BUT these were INSTANTLY sorted out.
Location: Superb location - the views were stunning and the dappled sunlight from a beautiful thin woodland was amazing to wake up to. Just wonderful!
Brilliant welcome, we felt at home instantly. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful views, good walks, varied wildlife and the quiet and stunning location made this a great getaway for the family (and, in my opinion, for a romantic weekend too). Just took my son this time, but fully intend to return with more of the family. Beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of storage. Shower was great and the heated towel rail a much used bonus. We ate 2 evening meals at the hotel (we were only staying 3 nights) and they were lovely. The grounds and surrounding moorland were great to explore and just a short (25 min) drive away was Looe harbour and beach which I highly recommend. We also visited the equally close tiny harbour and village of Polperro which was picture-book stuff. About 35mins East -north-east is the superb Lydford Gorge (NT), a favourite of mine and great for kids (but not babies/toddlers though). Wheal Tor is ideally placed to explore both coasts and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area. Look forward to going back.

Wheal Tor Hotel - friendly service and great viewsPosted Sep 25, 2011 on Hotels.com
Only had a one-night stay, but enjoyed a good meal and a really varied breakfast. The location is just stunning and well situated to walk on Bodmin Moor. No TV in bedroom which we looked on as a plus factor - perfectly adequate TV lounge close by. Good family feel.
