When it comes to getting the best out of your precious vacation time, remember that Coronado is merely the beginning; Central Pacific Coast has been blessed with an abundance of scenic and cultural delights. If you're keen to explore more of the region, you'll find San Isidro de Penas Blancas, 19 miles (31 kilometers) to the south, and Santa Teresa 20 miles (32 kilometers) to the south.
When you are ready to head further afield beyond Coronado, why not check out the nearest center. Cartago is situated 50 miles (80 kilometers) away and is home to sights including Monumento Nacional Guayabo, Parque Nacional Tapanti and Turrialba Volcano National Park. Our Lady of the Angels Basilica and Parque Nacional Volcan Irazu are some of the other points of interest here that should be included on every visitor's schedule.
Those who like to go beyond the usual sights will enjoy Coronado's guided nature walks and wildlife spotting tours.
Much of the appeal of seeing the world is exploring new tastes. Take the time to visit the region's restaurants and cafés. How about trying pargo (red snapper) or ceviche (marinated raw fish)? Both meals are a favorite choice in this region.
You'll be sad to say "Adiós" (farewell) to this unique place.
