Nice view from a run-down hotel

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: View, Location
Cons: Desperately needs updating; mold in the bathroom, terrible food
Location: Marina is across the street, downtown location with fabulous dining and night life. Hotel hosts concerts. USS Lexington and Aquarium are not far.
This hotel used to be beautiful and had quite a reputation. It has a prime location across the street from the Corpus Marina, which you can see from your room (though the balconies are locked off) and next door to some of the best hotels and night life in the city. However, the night staff was extremely disappointing and unhelpful. Food from the restaurant was awful, though the bar was hospitable. The room itself was comfortable enough, though the air conditioner was very loud - at least it worked. I did take advantage of free wifi, but there are not outlets anywhere near the desk, so I had to improvise. The bathroom was in deplorable condition, with mold all over the joints in the tub and around the toilet, and the fixtures have not been replaced since about 1980. Had I paid full price for the room, I would have been extremely disappointed. As it was, I was only mildly disappointed, considering the view I got for the price and my tolerance to mold. For those with allergies, the mold and the down in the pillows would be a deal-breaker.

Thank you for your recent stay with us. I am glad that you enjoyed the views from the Hotel and found our location convenient to the other venues in the downtown area. Thank you for letting me know about the evening staff as I will address this with my team. We are working on a solution to get additional outlets in the rooms as well as starting our bathroom renovations soon. I will get with engineering and be sure that we address any deficiencies in the room.

Great hotel by the beach!

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Free continental breakfast :)
Location: Great location right in front of the beach, close to the aquarium, restaurants, morning/evening walks. Everything!
I was very pleased with the whole stay experience at this hotel, it was on a busy holiday Labor Day weekend and we experienced excellent staff service, from the front desk to the room service to the bell hopper. It was a surprise to us that they remembered from a brief talk at check in that my son's Bday was that weekend, and they surprised us with room service Bday cake with milk and serenated HBDAY song!! My son and all of us were very excited and very grateful for that! No hotel had ever done that! We will definitely go back, especially since it's so close to the beach! Thank you Holiday Inn, you guys are the best!!

OK Hotel to stay for a short vacation

Posted Sep 5, 2014
Pros: Close to the beach
Cons: No charge on parking, front hotel needs to be kept clean, elevator needs to be replaced, it's too old, not worked appropriately.
Location: beach, museum, us navy boat
The Hotel / room is OK, not look fancy of I expected with the rate. The ground in front hotel is dirty, seemed like no one cleaned it. They charged me one day breakfast even though I did not order it. I talked to the manager / front desk staff, then they removed it off my bill. Overall, it's a OK hotel to stay for a short vacation

It's a great hotel only reason it didn't get full rating is because the bathrooms need some updating.

Thank you for your recent stay with us. I will get with our engineering department regarding that ants and not having A/C in our lobby area. I was unaware that we did not have any. My apologies for misplacing your valet keys to your car and I will address this with our Valet to ensure they are following proper key control measures.

Bellhops: Tips more important than service

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: teach the Bellhops to assist customers not take them for a tip.
As we checked in I asked to get a cart for my luggage because the Bellhops had them all locked up. They got all snotty with me but gave me one. He then leered at me every time I came past the lobby. As we were leaving I asked again, and was refused. Until I asked to speak to a hotel manager and then it was no problem getting a cart, except for the attitude problem. They are hiding the carts to guarantee tips for themselves. This is terrible. I travel with two kids under 3 and it takes me a while to organize. I need a cart. I do not need the attitude. As a gold member, I have never seen this at any other Holiday Inn. Also the lobby restrooms were so disgustingly dirty I could not use them.

My apologies for the customer service that you received with our bellstaff. We understand that there are some guests that do not wish to be assisted and have recently purchased carts that are easier to use and have a breaking system on them. We have experienced a run in with run away carts from are larger ones and try to make sure our bellstaff assists with them as they have been known to cause damage to cars and are a liability. Our smaller carts do have a breaking system that guests are more than welcome to request. I will address the restrooms with our housekeeping department and apologize if you did not find them to meet your expectations.
