"The PERFECT place to stay in Sorrento!"
We stayed at Piazza Tasso for six nights. Plenty of time to appreciate the location, room and hospitality provided by Silvana. Silvana helped us on a daily basis with places to visit in and around Sorrento. Without exception her advice was spot on for restaurants, sightseeing and modes of transportation. We enjoyed a fabulous breakfast on the balcony of our room each morning and a glass of Italian wine every night while we watched the action taking place in the Piazza. The location is perfect! Close to the train station (which is also the bus station), the harbor and smack in the center of town. The attention we received from Silvana and her staff was greatly appreciated. Our favorite spot to dine was a small family owned (the Fisherman's Family) and operated (by Anna) at Marina Grande near the end of the pier. Well worth the walk! We would not consider staying anywhere else in Sorrento now that we have been spoiled by Silvana and Piazza Tasso.

"Great choice for location and value for money."
Fantastic location - 5 minute stroll to and from train and bus station/ both in same place. Easy reach to and from airport. Train to Pompeii and Vesuvius, bus to Positano/Amalfi coast - very easy. Two minutes from cinema, 5 minute stroll to Tasso Square. We visited theatre just off Tasso Square and were invited to drinks beforehand included, the show was very good. Many shops and restaurants from walking out the door. Three marinas all within walking distance and enjoyable walks. Very clean hotel. Poolside immaculate. 3 star and very good value. Didn't like everything on offer at dinner but always sufficient choice - starter of pasta or rissotto looked nice and would be enough without main course, I chose fruit juice as can't manage starter and main course. Macaroni was great. Restaurant staff showed good humour and had a few laughs there. I overheard someone saying they usually go on cruises and so much more choice of food-of course there is-that is what you pay for on a cruise. All the staff are friendly and approachable. Really enjoyed our stay.

"Short weekend break!"
We drove down from Naples along the coast to Sorrento, beautiful. Driving is not for the light hearted! Emily Suites was easy to find and the car park across was a bonus else parking would have proven to be really difficult. The main square was a 10min walk from the Suite just right away from all the noise. Emily was very welcoming the suite was nice and cosy, simple with lots of warm touches. Emily was very helpful and informative. We were served a lovely light breakfast every morning with love heart toasties and chocolates on Valentines. On our return from a day out in Capri Emily had gone to great efforts to add valentines touches to our suite with rose petals and candles. All these extra touches made our stay extra special. Will definitely be going back to Emily suites.

"Peaceful, wonderful view, challenging walk"
The nuns are welcoming, and the rooms are large, with a wonderful view over the Bay of Naples. The rooftop patio also has this view, and we sat there every evening to watch the sunset, drinking wine and relaxing with snacks. There were few other guests, and we were undisturbed by our hosts. It was calming after the bustle and hustle of downtown Sorrento. The walk to and from the hotel, though, was a challenge, on a very busy and narrow street, and there is a big climb up to the hotel unless you have a car. We were on foot, so did not go into and out of town as often as we would have. You do feel part of life in Sorrento - this hotel is not a conventional one; it is a vast 18th-century building high on the hillside above the street. The wifi was on and off. The breakfast was acceptable, but unvarying, and the breakfast room was musty-smelling. It would not be hard to make some pleasant sitting areas, or to add some hard-boiled eggs or different breads to the breakfast; these would make the place more welcoming without adding to the expense of the convent.

"Could do better!"
The shower was broken, you had to hold it up. I wouldn't recommend actually using most of the kitchen items either, as they were covered in dust. However, the rest of the room and the layout etc were all very nice. The staff were helpful at check in / check out (although please note that you have to collect the keys at a different B&B and it looks like Casa Armida is only actually two small apartments in a residential block) Finally, the main road it is located on is very noisy and we stayed there in February... I can imagine it would be a lot worse in full summer.

"Good stay at Flora"
Recently spent 6 nights at Grand Hotel Flora & had a good stay. I was using Sorrento as a base to travel around the area. I paid extra for a superior room which meant that I had a room at the back of the hotel with a lovely sea view-you could end up with a room to the front of the hotel which faces a main road and petrol station (not so pretty!)Friends also stayed in the hotel at the same time & they had a view of a wall. The hotel is 4 star but isn't really anything special. The room was clean but you could tell that it's beem a while since the place has been done up and is slighty shabby in places (In my room some light switches didn't work and tiles cracked). My room was on the 4th floor & under the restaurant & due to the tiled floors it could be a little bit noisy at breakfast time with chairs being moved (does mean you have great views at breakfast time though!). The hotel has a great deep pool but it closes at 6 every night. There is also a daily charge to use the sunbeds (the deck chairs are free), though I think this is common in many Italian hotels. It is really central, only a 10 min walk to the centre & train station so ideal for travelling around the local area. If you stay in a hotel up in the hills you need to rely on buses or taxis (the road is not good for walking). The reception staff were really helpful & went out of their way to help. Overall I had a good stay at Grand Hotel Flora and it totally served my purposes, just don't expect anything WOW!

"Great Stay in Sorrento Italy"
We just got back from spending Christmas and New Years in Sorrento Italy at the Plaza Hotel in Sorrento. This Euro-modern hotel is just steps from Piazza Tasso and the history centre of Sorrento. The hotel was clean, fresh, bright and modern. Our room was large and very comfortable, with a view of Piazza Tasso and Vesuvius in the distance across the Bay of Sorrento. The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. The included daily breakfast was always fresh and enticing, and the chef made different fresh pastries and various fruit dishes every day in addition to the usual selections of Italian breakfast meats and cheeses and North American breakfast regulars. The bar was a very comfortable place to take a coffee or drink break any time of the day. All-in-all we were extremely satisfied with our stay at the Plaza Hotel in Sorrento. BTW - we were pleasantly surprised to find that wash clothes were routinely supplied with the bathroom linens. This is not typical of our experiences with hotels in Italy.
