We stayed overnight in Jan 2014 on our way up to the North of Spain. Well situated in the centre of Barcelos. Rooms were bright, clean and warm. Hotel staff were very accommodating. The underfloor parking was a bonus.

We booked this hotel for hiking in Peneda National Park and have been fully rewarded both by the stunning nature and warm hospitality of the hotel staff. Weather was good during our stay and we were able to make several excellent hikes in the surrounding hills, all of which were well signposted. The hotel is in a relatively remote place and without a car it can be reached by bus to the nearest town and taxi bookable from Peneda.

Lovely modern hotel. Perfect place to relax for a couple of days. We just sat on our balcony for hours watching the sea and countless locals out promenading. Were given a 'mountain' (i.e. car park) view room by mistake initially. (Definitely worth paying the extra.) We were asked to bring all our of stuff back down to reception to sort it out, but we insisted that someone come to us to sort it out. A manager came up and dealt with it very well in the end.

This lovely hotel is situated in a quiet village, Castelo do Neiva, about 11km from Viana do Castelo. The village is unexceptional but the hotel is a delightfully converted winery and former estate with comfortable rooms, pool, gym, social area with games, TV, and an honesty drinks bar, tennis court, a very pleasant area to sit out under vines, surrounded by open green and paved spaces. Our room was pleasantly decorated in faux antique style if a little chintzy. There are pleasant places to relax outside in fine weather. Qunita is peaceful creating a very romantic setting. The breakfast is fantastic – a wide choice of cooked food, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, fruit, and a freshly baked cake every day. Although the advert says ‘meals available on request’, one dinner a week is offered, which at €30 ph without wine compares reasonably well with local restaurants. The food was good with excellent deserts though a main course of salmon was a little ‘safe’ and it would have been good to have had locally caught fish. The host, Fatima, is welcoming and friendly and kindly lent us 2 bikes when she realised we didn’t have our own transport. These enabled us to get to the (really) unspoilt beach along tractor tracks through nearby fields (much more pleasant than the half an hour walk along houses and holiday homes). Without a car though you are dependent on the buses into Viana for connections further afield. In all we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay here.

When we visited Braga this week, for a short break, taking the match into account as well, we stayed at the Bracara Augusta Hotel, as it was rated as the best hotel in Braga, as well as being central, how right was the rating.
The staff were all great, and went to extra lengths to attend our requests at any time, and they were so helpful, and provided my small group with everything they asked of them.
The restaurant staff and the food were all excellent, the choices was great, as well as the large portions, also the price paid was excellent, so overall an excellent choice for anyone who wishes to visit Braga, you will not be dissapionted.
Enjoy the experience.
