Clean rooms, easy and quick access to downtown

Posted Mar 27, 2015
If it hadn't been for the problems I encountered during my stay, I would recommend this hotel. First, there was no hot water. We were promptly switched to a different room so no problem. However, the 2nd room was not cleaned by housekeeping after we showered/used before heading out. We then found the sink to clog up quickly later that night. I called the front desk to let them know and was told they would call back once they got a hold of maintenance. That call back never happened. I got tired of waiting after 20 mins and went to bed. The next day upon check out, I brought this up again and the staff apologized but didn't provide any financial remedies for the inconvenience/problems experienced during my stay.

Something Different...

Posted Mar 4, 2015
When I arrived to my room, after my smooth check in, my phone rang. It was Tracy from the front desk. She said, "Mr. Taylor, this is Tracy. I just want to make sure your room is perfect. Is there anything you need?" Ive been to MANY hotels and none have EVER done this. Its the small things. I knew that would set the tone for my stay, which was great. Thanks Tracy

First Impressions don't always tell the story.

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Pros: The clerk working at check in.
Cons: Inspect the rooms and make needed repairs. Train front desk personnel to make notes when guest informs them of problems with rooms. Not to just say OK
Location: Location appeared to be safe and quiet although somewhat industrial.
First impression of this property were very good. The lady working the front desk on check-in was very friendly and efficient. Upon entering my room things started to change. They had the heat shut off in the room in sub-zero weather, the room was very cold. I turned the heat on and the room began to warm up. I set the thermostat about in the middle as it was an older mechanical one without anything but a dial and warmer and colder. I had arrived very late and went to bed. About an hour later I had to get up to adjust the thermostat a bit cooler as the room was blistering hot. This happened several time more before the alarm went off. Upon awakening the room was still quite warm so I adjusted the thermostat close to the coolest setting. I thought this won't be so bad getting out of the shower into this warm room and proceeded to the shower. I started the water in the tub and got it adjusted right, pulled the valve in the spout and jumped in. Much to my surprise the water turned quite cold shortly after I was in. I attempted to adjust the temperature to no avail. Every time I would pull the valve in the spout the water would go cold. I made do and took a sponge bath. I then went to shave and brush my teeth. The faucet in the sink was one of those single control types. No matter how I moved the lever I could not get hot or cold water, just luke warm. So much for the shave and thankfully I had some bottled water with me. At check out the response from the clerk was "OK"

Clean, safe and quiet

Posted Feb 24, 2015
Pros: Clean, quiet, nice front desk people, and a person answered the phone when I called to confirm reservation.
Cons: The doors slam shut from other rooms and wake you up repeatedly as people leave.
Location: It's in a quiet neighborhood with drugstore, restaurants and 7-11 just down the street.
We needed a hotel last minute and found the BW on Expedia. After researching many hotels, we took a chance on this one. It's in a quiet neighborhood with drugstore, restaurants and 7-11 just down the street. Front desk very welcoming. We were put on the top floor in a newly renovated room. It smelled slightly of construction dust and was terribly dry (it is the dead of winter) but otherwise was clean and well-appointed. It had a mini fridge, reg. coffee pot, desk, comfy chair and ottoman as well as king size bed. We watched the Oscars on a nice flat screen. Overall, we slept well. We were even directly across from the elevator and didn't hear it once. I will say though that the noise of the doors from other rooms closing is disruptive as people leave from 4am on for early flights. Install some sort of preventative device so the doors don't slam shut. The breakfast isn't worth anything either, but we had snacks and left for the airport at 7:30am. Midway is 25minutes away with minor traffic. Great airport hotel option!

Chicagoland Bestwestern worked for us.

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Location: Location worked for our destinations. Close to Hwy 55 to slip into south Chicago area and access to Lake Shore Drive.
The hotel is working on upgrades so there were some glitches with heating and blown circuit breakers for our room so we moved to another room the second night. Also, the television service was out for 2 of our 5 night stay. Hotel staff was VERY friendly and helpful. Breakfast was usual Bestwestern fare. Rates were reasonable.

This hotel was in the perfect location.

Posted Feb 16, 2015
Pros: The proximity to Chicagoland attractions.
Cons: Nothing, it was great!
Location: Brookfield Zoo, museums, Downtown Chicago, Lake Michigan.
This hotel was very convenient to everywhere I wanted to be. If the weather would have been nicer (it was a high of 5 with a windchill of -14) we would have gone to Brookfield Zoo, and downtown to the museums and Navy Pier. We will stay here again the next time we are in town.

Good value for the money

Posted Feb 10, 2015
Pros: Price for single night stay through Expedia, bed comfort, cleanliness, breakfast availability, free wi-fi.
Cons: No improvement suggestions at this time
Location: Easy access to LaGrange, IL, suburban area for restaurants, shopping. Close to I55 and I294 interchanges.
My first stay was a pleasant one. The staff I met were attentive and friendly. The overall appearance was suitably clean and neat. I needed a nice room at a reasonable rate in the southwestern suburban Chicago area near Summit, IL. This hotel provided that.

Crazy night

Posted Jan 30, 2015 on Hotels.com
Checking in was very easy and the room we was assigned to was comfortable until we were about to go to bed. All of a sudden I could hear a lot of water splashing on something. I walked over to the bathroom and seen water spilling out of the toilet. The toilet had cracked and water was going everywhere. We had to be moved to another room. Unfortunately there were no more King rooms available. We were put in a double room. Two double beds, so my husband and I had to sleep separately! We talked to management in the morning and they were extremely kind and understanding and we were refunded our money for the room. I would recommend this hotel because the toilet issue was out of their control, but sleeping separately was inconvenient.
