Would Stay Again

Posted Jul 6, 2014
My friends and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend gateway. We loved how it was very close to the Newport Aqauarium and the Cincinnati Zoo. Hotel staff was very friendly. The air in the was great at first but throughout the night wasn't working as well. Loved the spacious bathroom in the room. Beds weren't as comfortable as we would have liked. The breakfast was good but the wait and lines for the breakfast was very long and could have been better managed. Overall the hotel was clean and would stay there again.

A pleasant stay

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Room was clean, comfortable and the hotel was close to local area attractions
Cons: A little on the expensive side
Location: Reds Stadium, concert venues, restaurants and bars in the Covington, Newport and downtown Cinci areas.
We stayed in the Cincinnati area for a concert at The Southgate house, and while this hotel was on the expensive side, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We mentioned going to a concert and possibly needing a cab. They made arrangements for us immediately and before we knew it we were on our way to the show. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Also, even though the room was close to the elevator door, we didn't have any problem with noise. In terms of location, this hotel is in an excellent spot. It is a short drive from all the Bars/Restaurants in Covington and Newport. We had a great breakfast at The Keystone bar and grill the morning after our stay. And of course it is right across the river from Great American Ballpark. All in all it was a great stay, and I would book there again in the future.

Nice hotel but not close walk to GAB

Posted Jun 22, 2014
Great stay. Area is a little shady but there was a security guard outside. It is next to 3 liquor stores. Not close enough to walk to ball park without a hike. You can take the trolley for $1.00. Breakfast was OK but busy with the hotel being full of Red/Blue Jay fans.

Decent hotel for the price compared to others.

Pros: Price, comfortable bed, refrigerator in room, free parking.
Cons: As above, plus staff could offer more specific info VS us having to ask for details more than once. 'Just walk right down there a ways" isn't helpful.
Location: Very little to do in Covington besides eat out unless you want to drive, which we did not. We went to 2 Reds games which was the purpose of our trip.
Hotel staff were pleasant but not very knowledgeable or forthcoming with information. They gave us incorrect information about the trolley hours of operation, the nearest trolley stop (right outside but they told us to go to the Marriott), the walking time to the Ballpark (45 minutes-NO!) and they did not seem to know a lot about the local eateries. FYI, this hotel is the last one on "the strip" and so it IS the furthest from Great American Ballpark .It is still easily walkable BUT the walk back was extremely scary after a night game. The area doesn't appear to be the greatest. Take the bus back at night. I expected Covington to be a small quaint little town with shops and restaurants that you could stroll around. I was really disappointed. We could walk to restaurants but that was it, and the area was dirty and metropolitan.

Pros: The breakfast was nice and the room was comfortable.
Cons: It appeared they could have used some help in the breakfast area to clean up and replenish the food on one of the days we were there.
Location: Downtown Cincinnati is a trolley ride away and of course the Reds' stadium.
The hotel itself is very nice. The front desk was very helpful. The area that the hotel is in is a little questionable. Liquor stores on nearly every corner in the area. We didn't have any trouble though. Trolley runs into Newport and Cincinnati and to Great American Ballpart for $1 a ride which was great

Stayed there for a Reds game.

Very nice hotel. Close to a trolley stop which takes you directly to the baseball stadium. We walked back to the hotel after the game and it was only a half an hour walk. Also my friend left his Kindle in the room but the staff worked diligently to get in contact with him to send it back.

Very disappointing stay.

Pros: The breakfast manager was very good and professional.
Cons: See "experience" comments above.
Location: Location was good for the most part. Close to everything.
Room was very limited, in regards to space. No working exhaust fan in the bathroom. The majority of the staff were not helpful at all, when asked about local info. etc. The breakfast tasted horrible and it was over crowded. The pool was small and not kept up very well.
