“Would not hesitate to go back - service was excellent!”
Just got back from our first trip to Cozumel & fully enjoyed our experience at Aura Cozumel Grand Resort. I read hundreds of reviews on Trip Advisor & Expedia before selecting this hotel & so had no surprises. I have stayed at many excellent hotels in the States and the service here was very comparable. Our room was large, clean, & comfortable. Every day we came back to a clean room with fresh towels & a refilled fridge. We had a rooftop room which comes with a small lap pool. We did not use that pool as it was unseasonably cool while we were there. The ocean was warmer. The hotel is not big - their sister hotel next door (Sabor) is where you want to be if you like lots of action. We were on our 20th Anniversary trip & liked the quiet. I liked that the meals were not buffets - that way you didn't overeat & what was prepared was fresh & tasty. I liked every meal i ordered - 7 days worth. I especially liked the variety at the patio restaurant in the evenings. What really stood out here for us was the service - of all employees of the hotel - from the maids, waiters, bartender, concierge, everything. They worked hard to please. The dock was great to use for jumping into the ocean or just viewing the fish in the crystal clear water. The beach was constantly being picked up & raked. There is a dive shop onsite too. The only issue i may have with this resort is not their fault - the shore is rocky as you enter. No biggie - just bring water shoes or use the dock to get in & out.
“Still lovin it”
This was the third time we stayed at the Aura in Cozumel. Although the hotel has changed hands, we stll enjoyed the stay. The internet service is still spotty, but the staff moved us to another room to get a better connection. Food is "ok" not wonderful, but the beach, the pool and the atmosphere cannot be beat for the price!
“Run Far Run Fast!”
Unfortunately my experience with the Aura Grand Cozumel was less than impressive. The jacuzzis at the hotel are filled with cold water, the consierge was less than helpful, there are not any activities on site, the restaurant options are very few and then menu is limited. The condition of the rooms, with the exception of the swim up rooms is mediocre at best. The hot water in the shower did not work, there were cockroaches in the room at different times, and the A/C quit working. When I requested to be moved to another room the consierge was reluctant to make the change. He finally did, but at no time expressed concern over the issues with the original deluxe accommadations. The swim up room was much nicer, but the overall friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is lacking. During our stay we experienced bad weather, at no time did any of the staff recommend any options on where to go during this period. We happened to rent a car and found the other side of the island to be warm, calm waters and we were able to swim, snorkle, sun bathe and enjoy the bad weather days. When we requested to check out a dive mask from the on site Dive shop we were told that we could not use it anywhere (even the hotel pool) other than the small beach area behind the hotel. My recommendation is to stay at a Palace Spa Resort. There's one on Cozumel as well as Riviera Maya. I stayed at the Adventura Spa Palace Resort last year, and the experience was phenominal for a very similiar cost!
“Aura Grand Resort Cozumel Mexico”
We stayed 10 nights at Aura, and the customer service at this hotel is lacking. The first 2 nights our room had no a/c, they did finally move us to new room. There is no internet service throughout hotel, it's only in lobby. The lack of dinning choices is to be desired. But most of all the hotel staff was the most unfriendly. I would not recommend this hotel. The island is great, loved San Miguel, but would look into staying somewhere else.
“Wouldn't stay here again.”
The actual hotel and rooms were good. There was also a pier that wasa nice addition. But the food was horrible...disgusting actually. It is an all inclusive that felt a bit too "institutionish". I would not recommend or stay at this hotel again.
“good place to relax”
the hotel met our expectations - good place to relax; rooms are quiet, so is the evening entertainment - don 't expect any. food was very good, we liked the restaurant style the hotels has - there is no buffet. Indoor restaurant was way too cold, felt like eating in a fridge. Bring a warm jersey!
“We'll Be Back”
This was are second time to Cozumel. The first time we stayed at Sabor next to Aura. At the time it was The Reef Club. Saber is nice, but is getting run down and needs some updating. The Aura is where we stayed this trip and it was one of our best vacations in the Caribbean. The proprty is immaculate inside and out. We preferred to spend time at the pool, but the beach is nice too. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A tip in the morning keeps the drinks coming all day long. There were three waiters that were especially friendly and helpful who we got to know by name. I thought the food was really good. My wife is use to Midwest cuisine and had a hard time finding something to eat by the end of the trip. And it is true, they use top shelf liquor, all you want. I snorkeled by the pier and didn't find it very good. Then I went down the beach towards the Sabor and the snorkeling was ca-razy; barracuda, sting ray, shrimp, French angle, snappers and others. Smaller fish in shallow water, but it was all there! The swim up rooms are a unique and a good concept, but you don't get much privacy. If you like more privacy, as I do, you should get the private pool room on the top floor. Just a great vacation for us. We are already making plans to go back with some friends we made while we were there.
“Beautiful hotel, location is fantastic. I would definitley go back!”
Staff was excellent! We had a swim up suite, although it was very nice I'm not sure that I would pay the additional for that because the area is always in the shade and had to go out to the pool/beach to get sun anyway. Hotel advertizes bathrobes, some fancy named bath products and internet service in room. No bathrobes or fancy named products and internet is only available in lobby. Other than that this is a very nice hotel and I would go back again.
“A pleasant surprise”
I don't normally 'go' for all-inclusive resorts and booked in here solely on the basis of the descriptions on the Expedia web-site. But my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised! The staff were very helpful, the rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the food was good. The beach was quite good as well, though we are not beach-niks. The resort itself does not have a spa, shops or entertainment. But the hotel next door does; they are owned by the same company and one can use their facilities. That hotel is definitely one-step lower in overall terms, so this was a very nice arrangement! We had a very pleasant week. NOTE 1: Because of a hurricane the previous week, the resort was rather empty, and that was good news for us. I do wonder if we would have been quite so contented, if the hotel had been full? NOTE 2: We did not make use of the facility, but the resort has a very active dive and snorkel base.
“Aura Cozumel”
Sent detailed letter to Property Manager or Managing Partner of the property with NO responce. The puictuers look first class but there is more to a resort than pictures. From computers without printers to a front desk with out tyhe capability of making change, Rooms with out clock, and room service that did not make wake up calls...not a four star property....Just a number of issues that added up to staying at another resort the next time...
