I would NOT recommend this hotel. They cater to cruise ship people and not the people who are staying at resort. Once cruise ships leave, everything is closed in this area and no place to eat or seek entertainment unless you go downtown. Reception staff was not helpful, we complained about our beds having holes in the middle, only after multiple complaints one bed was fixed. They charged us an extra tax fee per night that went into play in 12/23. We booked our hotel pkg in 10/23 prior to this extra fee. We were told we should have been given option to decline this fee and we were not given this choice and they refused to refund our money. We were not all inclusive so we paid everytime we ate or drank at the hotel. During check out they wanted to charge us again for what we had the first day when we were at pool because pool wait staff did not mark it as paid. We had to argue with them and have other wait staff confirm we paid each time we consumed something. Reception staff was not friendly or accommodating. Food was good at El Cid, the activities director was fun and engaged with guests staying at hotel. But I would not recommend this hotel

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and we woke up with bug bites. The bathroom cleanliness was average. We did enjoy the restaurant and beach area. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall however, i think the price was excessive for what you get. I probably would not recommend this hotel or return for another visit.

Cozumel is a great place, but not
Cozumel is a buitiful place, but we were dissapointed from the hotel. The beach was not well-maintained, underwater different slabs and pieces of building materials. Directly opposite the hotel there is marine for 5 large liners. The hotel allows 1 internet access per person. When we asked extra acess code for the laptop- they give us the price $22 USD/day. Positive points: spacious room, great view, cleanliness of the room, breakfast buffet.

Everything was good, I just wished they notified me before reserving that it wasn’t an all inclusive. (When you are booking it says “all inclusive”) but be aware is for an extra cost.

Room was filled with disinfectant smell for 2 days. Also everything is damp, have to crank up the AC to get the moisture out. And they have the guts to charge $12 for internet that is slower than my cellphone. They make you wear this stupid hand band during your stay meaning I have dive, sweat, telling everyone I am a tourist for the whole 5 days.Weird mattress with a hard crease on the middle. Cleanliness was good but the dinning table seems never been cleaned. Have to give them the thumbs up for the cold mini fridge, toaster, electric stove top, new microwave and basic cook and silverware. One time is too much.

The staff was unfriendly. I had the breakfast included and they wanted to charge more and I couldn’t have breakfast. They did not allow me. El Cid wants to charge $12 per day PER DEVICE for internet-RIPOFF! One small elevator in operation to serve 12 floors, so be prepared to wait, or take the small emergency stairs. Second elevator is under construction/renovation so enjoy the arc welding and hammer drilling while this is underway. Bed in our room was a Murphy Bed that folded down from it's cabinet and very firm. Required 4 in person requests over two days to get extra pillows to make the Murphy bed comfortable enough to sleep.

This hotel is in full decline. I have been a supporter and loyal guests for many years but the hotel needs refurbishment of rooms and some public areas. It has a great location with convenient snorkeling. It seems some of the hotel employees are not motivated to offer guests a warm and welcome service. They almost act like security guards and are intrusive. The hotel and staff are trying to grab monies and the daily injection of many cruise ship passengers has diluted the peace, quality of food and drinks. It seems the cruise ship passengers paying for their all inclusive day pass are treated better than the paying hotel guests. The parking was good but too many questions about check in and check out which left a feeling of let's not book here again! I believe most of the hotel employees could do with retraining to understand the paying guests are guests!!! Overall the stay while short was not the best and will not book again. I used to send all my guests here but that will not happen again following this very disappointing stay. They did offer a welcome drink but we were allocated a dirty old room with no view on the 4th floor, avoid this room! 1420. My guests were given a ground floor room close to the pool which was cool but again their feedback was dirty bed sheets, old decir and tired room! The food and drink quality is now very poor and would not eat here. HDB

Best bed i have slept in forever!!!
Nice overall place. Pool hot tub and outdoor facilities very nice. Room slightly dated but overall a nice clean place. Best bed i have slept in in years. Did not try the food onsite. Would happily stay here again if i returned.

nice location; tranquil area; not much/nothing to do at night. all inclusive package not worth your $; food alright; not many eating options, just 1; rooms were clean, beds need improvement. I arrived new year's eve; restaurant was charging $115 per person for the new year's celebration which included "entertainment" (a so so dj), so so drinks and a so so buffet; We showed up at 11:pm and they wanted $38 per person for drinks and "entertainment"; as we had not eaten I asked how much more to include food, they still wanted $115 p/p AT 11PM. unreasonable!!! it wasn't even really happening there. We walked a block away ended up at the Hard Rock Cafe with live band, food, drinks and tip for $75 for 2 adults. Shout out to the Hard Rock Cafe crew, we had the best tine ever!!!!. message to your personnel in charge - reasonable prices, fare to you and us tourists, better time and happy guests. rather than only a few guests and a great waste of your so so food. other than that disappointment I enjoyed my 5 day stay at El Cid recommendation - rent a motorized scooter and venture out of the resort. the best beaches, food, at much better prices, and places are not at the resort. contact Armando Perez 52 987 114 7906 or 52 987 139 3454 for $35 a day and you will have a blast. We only spent our last 1/2 day at the resort. we had an amazing time venturing out in Cozumel. Ask Armando for his recommendation on to which beaches to go to stop at.

I love this property because it is directly on the water and it's a great spot to snorkel. I also like the fact that it's near the cruise ships and there is a lot of activity to watch, but not be in the middle of the chaos. It's clean and a safe area. It doesn't seem over busy and you can always find a chair at the beach area.

Overall we had a great stay. First off the staff is great and very responsive. The hotel grounds are great and there is a lot to do. Since we were there over the holidays, they had some special nights and dinners planned out. Our stay started off great but after a week in the standard room, my boyfriend started experiencing watery eyes, sneezing, wheezing and couldn't breath. Our bed felt so moist getting into it (like a damp napkin). None of our clothes would ever completely dry. Also, the people next to us were smoking and the smoke kept coming into our room. We couldn't even leave the door open. He has bad allergies so a mix of the room and the smokers put him in a bad position. The staff did address the smoking problem. We finally upgraded to a 1 bedroom and it was night and day. He could finally breath and we didn't feel the moistness in the air. I loved having a desk to work at and a microwave to reheat food. We loved that we could just go downstairs and snorkel or layout at the pool. The wait staff was great and making sure we were taken care of pool side. I did love the breakfast the best. They have an all you can eat buffet but we still ordered a from the menu. The dinner and lunch menu is good. We ate out at other restaurants a lot so we did not get the all inclusive. All in all, we did have a great stay, minus the massive amounts of un-normal rain. I would give them a 4 star. Would have been 5 but they need to upgrade some of the rooms.

We bought the all inclusive when we arrived and paid way to much for what we got. The buffet wasn’t great for dinner and the drinks were weak. I wouldn’t purchase the all inclusive again. The price of WiFi was way too much, but we needed the WiFi.

The whole place is run down, ou need to pay for wifi per device, hidden costs all over the place, only one staff member was approachable (Bianca at front desk) The whole property is poorly run. I had a fold out bed, which was hard as rock and when you pay good money, you deserve comfort, luckily I was moved. There were mountainous cruise ships straight outside each day blocking the view. This hotel would be last on my list. It spoiled the whole experience of the holiday for me.

The only thing that I didn't like is that there is not much of a beach. The sand is placed on a concrete floor. It has the appearance of a beach but it is not. Either than that, the value for the price was amazing.

It was a disappointment with the nickel and dimming me for money, as well as the condition of the hallways and the elevator and stairs. The beach was a joke and extremely small. The pool was a bit dirty and disappointing. We came to get on our cruise ship at Cozumel. It was literally next door to the cruise port - which was awesome! The internet was not included in my $250 stay - which I NEVER had before in my life! They wanted $12 a day for 1 device. If you pay with a credit card - they add a fee to the bill which does not coordinate with the exchange rate. Would I stay again? No! There are nicer hotels in the area.

They make all guests fill out a Covid-19 form, take their temperature, disinfect hands and luggage when entering the building. Staff was ok. Wifi is $10 a day and service goes down. Building is old and in need of work. Rooms!! Our beds both had some yellowish nasty looking stains, also some brown ones and others that looked like blood. Called the front desk to request a new room and was told they didn’t have any instead the security guy came up with new clean sheets for me to change the beds. Requested someone to do it for me and the security guy did it because they didn’t have anyone to do tue job. Place needs better management, cleaning, fixing. I DO NOT recommend it to anyone. The ocean is beautiful and the pictures look good but the place needs lots of work.

We have been to CZM many times but this was our 1st stay at El Cid and will not be the last. We were very impressed with dive shop operations on site and the hotel pool and restaurant area. Mask were only required during buffet food times and the quality was fantastic. The only negative was the 1 elevator for floors 2-12, one is still not working, and the 1 working elevator only holds 2 people (smallest I have ever seen). We only had to take the stairs from the 5th floor once though but if the hotel is busy it could be troubling. Blanca at the front desk is delightful. Everyone at the dive shop is terrific. Shore diving can be done from the pier area, just ask the dive shop for tanks/weights to be left for you. We chose the all inclusive and it was so easy to grab a drink or bite to eat. The spa gave us a couples massage and facials for 75 minutes it was fantastic (extra charge but reasonable). Plenty of lounge chairs for the beach area. The cruise ships pulling in/out were fun to watch and were not a problem. The reviews I read about the noise Senior Frogs next door - we were on the 5th floor right above them - they were never an issue with noise. The beds are so comfortable and the A/C is magnificent. We will be back!!
