“to short a stay”
Great hotel!
“Great for us but maybe not for all”
Our first room had problems with the air conditioning and we were promptly moved to another room (which we liked more than the first). The second room's air conditioning also had problems (it leaked water and required buckets to be placed underneath to collect). This, too, was corrected as soon as housekeeping discovered the problem (we never complained about the problem because we finally had a cool room with a better location). Persons staying at this hotel may want to be aware that service is really directed towards the cruise ship passengers who arrive daily after purchasing passes to spend the day pool/beach side. My companion and I were never approached by any of the servers while lounging at the beach (or by the many vendors selling assorted services and souvenirs) due to a lack, I am sure, of the wristband worn by the cruisers. We were okay with that and enjoyed our uninterrupted lounging but others may feel like are being neglected. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at El Cid. It had the right amount of energy during the day that made hanging out at the beach and pool fun. We also liked the quiet nights that allowed us to simply sit on our patio and enjoy a good beverage and conversation...oh, and a beautiful view.
“Loved El Cid, great service, great place, and good food at restaurant”
We enjoyed our week long stay at El Cid,probably the worst thing I can say about the place is the sheets are scratchy. We had the all-inclusive plan which was good although a little tiring of the same food day after day, but overall was good. The cruise ships didn't really bother me other than the hotel and the town are much more crowed when they are there, which is every day from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
“Nice hotel but don't plan on diving”
The hotel and facilities are beautiful and well maintained. In years past we used the dive area to try out our gear and check our weights the day we arrived, but that option is no longer available. Although advertised on the hotel website, the dive shop on site is so restrictive that it is impractical to get a tank and dive without spending hours arguing with the operator and filling out page after page of forms. Then if you finally get a tank, they have to be returned so early that checkout dives are simply not available. The area behind the hotel is okay for snorkeling, but no diving is actually available except on a featurless sand shelf, so go for the hotel and plan your diving elsewhere.
“Great Hotel”
This was the second time staying at the El Cid. It is a great hotel with a wonderful staff. Most of the people in the dive shop are great. They have a really nice dive master. Super clean and beautiful rooms! We will be back!
“I would go back”
The people at the hotel were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much, and we would go back in a minute. Also, the food at their rest. was very good.
“Great Stay”
We had a great stay at El Cid and would recommend it to others. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. The hotel was nice enough and had a great view as well as a nice beach front and snorkeling area. We were in town to do some diving and had no problems with pick up at El Cid's dock. We decided not to do the all inclusive package and we were glad we didn't. We tried the food at their restaurant on site and were not impressed. Overall the hotel was in good shape, the staff was friendly and the food was average for how expensive it was.
“best concierge”
the staff at el cid were more than accomadating, very polite and helpful
“Great Service”
The hospitality at El Cid La Ceiba is outstanding. This is my second time to stay there. I have stayed at several other places in Cozumel, but I will return to La Ceiba in the future. They have a great staff. The "Filete de Marisca" at the restaurant is an oustanding dish.
“Great place to stay”
The hotel was wonderful. The food and the service can not be beat. We did the all inclusive and that is the only way to go. All of the waiters and the one waitress were super nice. Emil, Conzuelo and Elizar were our favorite. The food was top quality and very good. The beds could have been better. The sheets felt sticky. But over all, the room was very clean. Take lots of tip money, the staff really deserves it. We stayed 4 nights and were not ready to leave. We will stay there again when we go back next summer.
