Amazing Hotel Besides One Slightly Stinky PillowPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: Free upgrade! The facilities were beautiful! Calm, white sand private beach access (the three other hotels we stayed had rocky beaches).
Location: The location of the hotel itself is somewhat remote - not walking distance from downtown. Great if you rented a car or moped!
We booked El Cid at the last minute because when we originally looked for hotels it was way out of our price range. The staff were cordial and helpful throughout our stay. The facilities were beautiful! We arrived around noon and our room was not ready until 4:00 - an hour after the scheduled check in time. As a result, they gave us an amazing upgrade to one of their top floor suites! We didn't even have to ask! A couple really minor downsides, the plumbing in our room was slightly dated. Also, one of the pillows on our bed did not smell freshly laundered.

Nice hotel with beach accessPosted Nov 23, 2013
Pros: The drinks and the food.
Cons: The volleyball pit
Location: Very close to the town center and yet still on the beach
We had a great time. This was our first all inclusive trip and it was amazing. This was the most relaxing vacation I have ever had.

First Class Hotel(our 2nd time staying here)Posted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: Awesome front desk staff, super restaurant n waiters, exceptionally clean rooms and manicured grounds. 2 access points for snorkeling, tours by David
Cons: nothing!! I have to say it's just beautiful and relaxing with an awesome view of the ocean
Location: South of town only $6 to $8 to town-restaurants within walking distance-snorkeling n zip line nearby-shopping across the road-El Cedral ruins close by
We cannot say enough good things about this hotel, the moment you step inside you are welcomed with a glass of champers and the bellboy takes care of your luggage.Check in was a breeze and we were soon off to our upgraded suite. Living/dining area was extremely large with a kitchen area that was equipped with ample utensils pots, pans, blender, coffee maker, microwave, glasses Bedroom was spacious enough with a walk in closet and a secured safe for your valuables. There is also a balcony in the room and in the Living room, big enough to have breakfast or just sit and enjoy the beverage of choice, bed was very comfortable unlike some reports I have read and pillows were the best. We were on the 8th floor and the view was spectacular although you do have ships docked slightly to the left of the hotel they are not enough to obscure your view of the wonderful ocean. The sandy beach areas in front of the tower and the 3 story building are full of sun loungers and hammocks with shaded areas if required. There is easy access to the ocean for snorkeling on this side with another access on the other side of the restaurant. The pool n hot tub with bar access are cleaned daily to provide crystal clear water. The mayan spa center is well worth a visit, so relaxing, these ladies know their profession. In front of the 3 story building you have the fantastic Dive shop. The restaurant is also a must for the food connoisseur with a delicious food and drinks menu. We will return next April

Comfortable and quietPosted Oct 17, 2013
Vacationing with my teen children and chose this hotel. Air conditioner was not working for the first couple of days of our stay...I had to complain multiple times. The other downside is the bathroom, only ventilation (no fan) is a window opening into the hallway, a bit wierd and creepy. Due to no ventilation, there was mold and mildew. Other than that we had an awesome stay and the hotel staff was great!

Extremely clean room and facilities. Great staff.Posted Oct 17, 2013
Complimentary glasses of champagne at check in. Very soft towels in room and on beach. Room and facilities were extremely clean. Bed was too firm for the Mrs. but the Mr. found it acceptable.

Nice Place to StayPosted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: Staff was great!
Cons: They need to hand out information packet about thing in and around the hotel.
Location: $7 per taxi downtown, not bad. Across the street from El Cid you see a big Hard Rock cafe sign...not even built yet so save the walk.
Very nice experience. This was our second time at El Cid and will make a third one for sure. One thing that the desk forgot to mention is that you get 30min free internet per day using their computers. That is a nice to know. Also just out side the a main entrance is a nice little shop to buy snacks and drinks.
