“A second home”

Hotel Flamingo is a great place to stay in Cozumel. The owner, Tom, is very hospitable, and the staff is wonderful. I enjoyed staying at the hotel immensely, and it felt like home by the end of my stay (I originally booked six nights, but ended up staying four more). The all-inclusive resorts are mostly situated on another part of the island, and I was glad that this hotel was in town. The neighbors are friendly, and there are some great restaurants and bars in the area. The hotel is a relief from the over-the-top tourist areas closer to the cruise offloading areas. My room was large, beautiful, and very clean. I felt very safe, even though I was traveling alone as a single woman. I recommend Hotel Flamingo to anyone considering going to Cozumel, and will definitely stay there again. It is a new "home away from home".

“Wonderful Experience, Super Clean”

We booked here at the last minute and really loved it. Our room and bathroom were ultra clean, there were tons of great pillows for the beds, the a/c was effective, lovely outdoor lounging areas, beautiful courtyard area, delicious breakfast, lovely check-in area, and polite and helpful staff. The hotel owner even allowed me to receive a FedEx package at the hotel a couple of days after our check out (we rented an apartment for the rest of our stay in Cozumel). It rained the first two days of our visit, and it was wonderful to have such nice areas to relax in around the hotel. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay here again. The price is a bit higher than some other hotels there, but we noticed a real quality difference, so we think the price is fair.

“Great little hotel in the heart of town”

The Flamingo is a wonderful hotel with a charming atmosphere and great service. The hotel is clean and well maintained and the room we had was beautiful with a comfortable bed and very quiet. The owner of the hotel helped us out with everything from special room requests to scheduling us with the best dive shops and suggesting good restaurants and places to rent a car...and don't miss the breakfast that comes with the room; it's outstanding! The hotel is located in the heart of old town San Miguel within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shopping and the ocean front. The main downside is that it's not very close to any beaches, so you will have to take a taxi or rent a scooter or car to get to one of the many beaches along the west side of the island. If you are looking to avoid the big resorts, I would definitely recommend the Flamingo for the perfect boutique hotel experience in sunny Cozumel.

“Wonderful hotel”

WE had wanted to see the island and meet the people not be herded around by the resorts to where they wanted us to go. The Flamingo Hotel is in down town just ½ block from the water. If you rent a car there are lots of places to park, if you want a cab there are cabs every place just step out the door to get one. The hotel has a great view from the roof top lounge of the gulf of Mexico. The hotel staff is just GREAT when we walked in they had our room ready. It was clean and very nice. Loved it. The house keeper makes the best animal decorations from the towels, we so looked forward to seeing what she had made for us. There was a swan, puppy, heart, crocodile and more. Remember to leave tip and you will get something sweet too. We had breakfast every morning at the hotel. The Staff was great spoke good English and the food is great too. We would sit and chat with owner and lean about real Mexico. My wife wanted to see wild parrots and the owner walked 3 blocks down the street to show her a nesting parrot. Where else could you ever go the OWNER you do anything like this for a customer. WE would also see the locals coming in for breakfast too. Every night we stop at the bar and sit and chat with other guest and have a drink. The bar tenders make great drinks speak good English. There are a lot of divers from around the world that now live on the island that come in to just relax and we had some very nice conversations. If the place wasn’t good they wouldn’t be there right.

“Cozumel: Resort or Downtown?”

My wife and I stayed at the Flamingo for a week during Christmas. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to stay in San Miguel, Cozumel. The hotel is near several good restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend you eat at the steakhouse near the hotel and Kinta!!! We ate at both places twice. The only real downside of the hotel is it isn't within walking distance of any good beach. There is a public beach within walking distance, but the water isn't very clear there and while we were there we saw no one at this beach. The Azul hotel is a cab ride way (80 pesos or $5 each way) and you can visit the beach there, which is what we did. The water at playa Azul is crystal clear there is a pier you can walk out on and dive in with plenty of beach chairs to relax in. You have two options in Cozumel, stay at a resort with a nice beach and be far away from all the restaurants in San Miguel, or stay downtown at the Flamingo and take a cab to the beach. I would recommend you stay downtown at Flamingo and get a feel for Cozumel versus being stuck at a resort. Also, because it is a smaller hotel we met a lot of the guest and made some friends to go to dinner with while in Cozumel. Ivan, the bartender, is great and will always give you great advice on where to eat or what to do. One last thing, if you are a serious espresso drinker, walk down one block to the bakery and get your coffee there. While you are at it, get a couple snacks for the beach as well

“Perfect place for those with an active lifestyle”

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel Flamingo every year since 2005. We are SCUBA divers and really love what Cozumel has to offer. This hotel gives us all the comforts we need during our dive trips, but it will meet the needs of more than just SCUBA divers. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are very pleasant and ready to assist you with whatever you need. The continental breakfast that comes with the room is filling and delicious, but you can order from a full breakfast menu if you want more. The bar is well stocked and a great place to mingle with other guests, island locals or passers-by who stop in for refreshment. The hotel location on the island couldn't be better. A short walk will take you to many great restaurants, shopping, and the town's main square where there is always something happening. We couldn't be happier with our stays at Hotel Flamingo and will continue to stay there every time we visit Cozumel.
