Very nice and simple hotel

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: -The view -The location -The pool
Cons: -Cleanliness -Air conditioner
Location: Ocean is right in the back. All the places to go on the strip are within walking distance, including a large outlet mall.
The hotel is located directly across the street from a huge grocery store which is very convenient. You can walk to all the shops and the hotel is located on the main road. Very short cab ride to get on the cruise ships. The view in our room was beautiful. We overlooked the ocean. They have a pool with a swim up bar and sand with chairs to lay out and tan. Wasn't the cleanest hotel and the air conditioner was pretty weak.

Pros: Good price, on the water, near the store, near town, nice staff
Cons: Better info on how to dive at the hotel, what to do with gear, where to clean it, etc. I figured it out on my own, a flyer or something would be good.
Pros: on the water front rooms with balcony/ocean view good a/c in room nice pool fridge in room big grocery/shopping across the street great walk ability to town Cons: Not that comfortable Beds and bedding is super cheap no wifi in room no a/c in lobby which is the only wifi accessible location (winter is probably fine; summer is not so great) what to do as a diver was not explained to me (I didn't figure out there were lockers by the beach until the last day) pool bar is lame, food is ok, but the vide is not fun, bar exchange rate was terrible, super dull no door mat to room, hard to not bring in sand to the room

Inexpensive Stay

Posted May 26, 2015
Pros: I did like the location and it is ocean front. It has wifi in the lobby (for Free)!
Cons: Definitely change the mattresses on the beds and add a coffee maker to each room
Location: Shopping, scuba diving, snorkeling.....
The room was big enough but, the beds were very, very hard, the mattress were worn out and need replacing. The air conditioner and ceiling fan both worked very well, but were so noisy we couldn't watch TV or talk. Our view of ocean was great, but we couldn't really sit on our balcony because of type of chairs that were out there. For the size of the room we ended up with there was no dresser to put clothes in so we used the extra bed that was in the room. Lastly, they had a great fridge that kept everything cold, but no coffee maker for morning coffee. Would I stay here again, yes, but remembering that I need to bring a coffee maker.

Went for diving

Posted May 15, 2015
My greatest criticism is the beds. My back, hips, and joints hurt terribly every day. I like the staff and location and the room was sufficient for my needs, but I would not SLEEP there again.

Friendly staff, and great location

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Location: Ocean, downtown restaurants and shops
A great value. My wife and I loved this hotel. It is no frills, but the staff was really friendly and the location was excellent. The hotel is on the waterfront, in the central downtown district, and the Mega supermarket is right across the street.

Bare Minimum But Great Atmosphere

Posted Mar 5, 2015 on Hotels
This was my first visit to Cozumel and I wanted to be in the thick of all the shops and restaurants. This hotel was not the most luxurious, but suited the bare minimum needs. Check-in was fast and easy. There was no elevator which could make toting heavy luggage a problem. The room and bathrooms were clean. There was a 27 inch TV with cable and a remote control (which you have to sign for). I stayed in room #306. The AC rattled a bit, but kept the room cool. There was no cold water for the shower, but it ran through the faucet in the shower. The room is also located by the restaurant vents, so you will smell food. The best part about my stay was the view from the balcony. It overlooked the pool and the ocean was a stone's throw away. What the hotel lacked in luxury, it made up for in atmosphere. Many of the cruise ship crews hang out at this location when they dock, so the atmosphere was young and vibrant. The No Crews Bar had excellent food and drinks. Make sure you remind the waitstaff that you get a %15 discount. Monica was an excellent server. The pool and makeshift beach weren't bad, plus you could snorkel. Make sure you watch the sunset. What you don't have in the hotel, just run across the street to the Mega store. If you are looking for low budget accommodations and don't mind the bare minimum, this is the place for you.

Cruise stop over

Posted Feb 27, 2015 on Hotels
Cruise Port - We just booked for the day, they let us in our room early and we had for the whole day as a meeting point for all our shopping bags and to change clothes and to enjoy the pool. Money well spent had a great day at the pool and bar.

Meh...

Posted Feb 24, 2015 on Hotels
We stayed here our last night in Cozumel. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the main area of San Miguel. While the location was ideal and the snorkeling off the hotel pier was amazing, the room itself left a lot to be desired. We booked a king size with an ocean view and got two double beds instead. One of the two was uninhabitable and the other was rock hard but the better of the two options. Since we were only there for one night, it was tolerable but if we were staying at the Barracuda for the bulk of our vacation, I would have been very disappointed. The room was outdated and kinda gross. Clean enough though and great water pressure in the shower which was nice. All in all, I would not return to the Barracuda. If they just spent a little money to update the room, it has the potential to be one of the best hotels in Cozumel.
