Great Staff excellent service peaceful location

Posted Oct 20, 2014
We arrived with a general idea of island. Just wanted to relax and we aren't divers. The staff gave us recommendations and arranged everything from rental car to submarine views of reefs, great places like coconuts and chakanaab. My only regret is I wish we had more time ... One week is OK but two weeks would have been fantabulous!!

Caters to SCUBA divers

Posted Oct 10, 2014
Great for SCUBA! Dive concierge is right across the street. Restaurant is reasonably priced. No elevator. Balcony rooms are worth the minor priced upgrade fee for drying gear, although there are storage bins available on the pier. Bring a padlock for your own sense of well being, but I never locked my bin for the entire stay. It is not close to town and the walk is about a brisk 30 minutes. I did it several times. Taxi rides can get pricey. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and a $5 fee per day if you want it in your room. I have booked and will continue to book a room in this hotel when on a dive vacation. I dove with Marine World and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I have also been with Dive House ... reputable, but I had several bad experiences with them ... it's most likely a personal issue.

3rd floor or villa highly recommended

Posted Aug 3, 2014
the first and second floors are standard accommodations but noisy as you can hear every time you let it sink or shower that runs. hotel is very clean back beds are hard and uncomfortable. Coffee is unavailable until 7:15 a.m. and rooms do not come with a coffee maker or refrigerator. the third floor suites have a noisy refrigerator but all rooms have a great air conditioner. menu never changes and very little alcohol and drinks. expect 16 percent tax on everything and don't forget to tip. A beach which leads to water is rare as there is man made beaches on a platform because of the reefs.

Great for divers

Posted Jul 8, 2014
The hotel is great for the diver. Bridge over the road right to the dock . Rinse station at the dock and near the pool. Lockers at the dock for your gear , so no lugging all your dive gear to the room every day. Decent food, not great but not bad . It is an older hotel , you can tell it has been around for a while . They offer in room wifi , it didn't work for me and I could see the hot spot line of sight . The staff is very accommodating and took great care of us. Maid service was awesome . All in all worked out well for us . Don't go expecting resort type pampering . Dive staff very knowledgable , friendly and effecient . I would stay again .

Perfect hotel for Cozumel scuba diving

Posted May 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
The staff at the hotel is wonderful--helpful, friendly, and fun. They helped us to arrange everything we needed, including a trip to an ear doctor. The room was perfectly clean. The balconies are small, but usable, and a nice place to sit out and watch the sunset if you avoid looking at the huge cruise ships at the international pier. There is a fabulous snorkeling reef just across from the hotel and a really good restaurant for fajitas. To get to town you need a cab, but it's easy to get there. My only criticism of the hotel was the slow breakfast service and cold eggs. They seemed overwhelmed by having too many people. Otherwise, it was great.

It is fine for the price range.

It is fine for the price range. Nice and clean. Did not always have new water bottles. Once, we did not have fresh towels.

Fabulous Cozumel

Posted Apr 20, 2014
Pros: It is small and friendly with long-term employees that you get to know more each time we go back - 4th time for us.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: Snorkel, dive, submarine, shopping, restaurants - all close by.
If you are not high maintenance, love to watch cruise ships come and go, are happy with friendly Mexican people then you will love Casa Del Mar. This is our 3rd stay here with our family and we will come back again. We like that it is not not all-inclusive so we can enjoy other restaurants and cruise around the island as we please. You can dive right across the street and also snorkel in very clear water. You can rent a jeep across the street at Ernesto's restaurant (which has a good breakfast) and then cruise south down the highway to the east side of the island. Stay in the cabana - we are a family of 4 and it gives you way more room and beds.
