“Nice hotel, but a little far to walk to town”
I stayed at Hotel Cozumel with my wife and 4 kids on a scuba diving trip. The hotel rooms are a nice size, and the balcony has room to dry out wetsuits, etc. Everything in the room was in good condition, but the bathtub surface has deteriorated and looks like mold (I don't think it is mold, just looks really bad). The beds were the most comfortable we've slept on in Mexico...which isn't saying much, but they were ok. Like most other hotels on the ocean, dive boats will pick you up at their private pier. The pool is nice and large - the kids had fun - but the hot tub is luke warm at best. After a few dives, the kids were often cold (yes, even in sunny, hot Mexico) and the hot tub didn't help much. The location is about a 30 minute walk from town, which we did several times but is not convenient when hot/muggy. The taxi was $10 bucks each way for the 6 of us. The restaurants are all buffet style, which isn't great for $12-15 (plus drinks) for a plate. We got much better food in town. Prima's Italian and Rolandi's are a short walk away for a similar price, with better food. Overall, the hotel has nice rooms, nice beds, nice pool, and isn't terribly far from town. Eat somewhere else.
“This place exceeds 3 star ratings”
The front desk was just helpful. They did not attempt any customer service. The rest of the staff, room attendents, waiters, and vendors were all top notch.
“Decent”
I would consider this hotel decent. There was nothing actually wrong with our stay... but it certainly didn't knock our socks off either. We were there during the slow time of the year, so there was only one restaurant open, which was disappointing. It was the buffet-style, so we pretty much had to eat whatever they were serving without the option of the sit-down and order off the menu restaurant. Other than that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, as they all seem to be in Mexico. Honestly my only major complaint was that the bed was EXTREMELY hard!!!! Maybe some people prefer it that way, but every morning I woke up I felt that I had slept on the floor.
“Cozumel fun and adventure.”
we will be back soon.
“Good Hotel”
Hotel employees were very kind and helpful. There was an issue with the slide door from the balcony, but they fix it right a way. I would stay again.
“Not Impressed”
It was like staying at a Motel Six. No pool service for drinks. No being able to get in the water from the beach.
“LOVED Hotel Cozumel!”
I can't tell you how much I fell in love with this place! After reading reviews here, I didn't have high expectations. I've stayed at a Sandals and it definitely is NOT a Sandals, but the food was great, the pool was awesome, the staff was friendly and fun and the hotel was beautiful! For the price, you can't beat it! The a/c in the room could have been better, and we requested a king bed and got two doubles, but other than that, no complaints! I'll definitely be back!
“Ready to go back had a great time!”
I went with a group of eight and we had so much fun. All the hotel employees were nice and friendly. Bed was a little hard. The entertainment that they had was good. Pool volleyball was really fun. Dive paradise is part of the hotel so if you dive they are the best dive shop in Cozumel.
“Still the place for me after all these years!”
Just got back from a summer trip to Cozumel. We've been coming to The Hotel Cozumel since 2000 (Costa Club at that time) and we will be back in Jan. or Feb 2012. As always we were made to feel like family and welcomed home by the staff. We always do all inclusive . Breakfast is great, lunch is pretty good and we always go downtown to eat dinner because of the many great pl;aces to eat . If you're looking for luxury, check the Palace. If you're looking for comfort and value with convenient pick up for diving, this is the place!
“Very nice for the price.”
Very nice hotel for the price, the buffet was excellent and yes go for the all inclusive it's worth it, the staff was super nice, if you tip your maid a couple bucks you get all the extras you want plus the work super hard. the nightime events were a little lame but they didn't go on too long so if you have nothing to do you can enjoy a free drink and watch them. Downside you have to take a taxi to get to the beach if you want to lay out in the sun.
