“Good bang for the buck”
A+ for great service, friendly staff, tons of room on the beach to spread out. I'd rate the food as adequate and much improved over our last stay 9 years ago. I was a little disappointed with the lack of shows (but I did travel in the off season) and the furnishings could use a little updating, but otherwise we had a great trip and won't hesitate to stay there again.
“Fell Below Expectations”
This was our first time staying at the Melia Cozumel, and while we plan to returning to Cozumel, we wouldn't choose to stay at the Melia again. The friendly staff and convenient location are the hotel's main advantages. Other than that, there were several things we were disappointed by. We paid for a room upgrade and while our ocean view was great, our balcony looked directly into the hottub below us--no privacy or sound barrier either way. Our room was also terribly outdated and the bed was extremely uncomfortable. In terms of dining, your options are limited and the food is poor quality and unappetizing. We had a party of 14 people and by day 3 most people were sick of the food and the only one beer on draft you could order (no beer in bottles at all). Others in our party had stayed at different Melia properties and felt like this one was not up to par.
“Average, but not 3.5 stars”
Excellent service, but nightly shows were not great, and snorkeling by the hotel was not possible. Good food and excellent service though, but rooms and hotel are a little run down.
“Melia's amiga”
I've stayed at the Melia several times over the years. The staff is very friendly and offer personal attention to one's needs or concerns. The location is convenient to downtown and the airport. The resort has wonderful views of the beautiful Cozumel sunsets. The restaurants offer a wide selection of delicious meals. Luis, in charge of car rentals, is my Cozumel papa...testing my Spanish skills and being more than helpful with any needs or nesessary information. Any issue I may have experienced over the last ten years of staying at this resort have been addressed in a timely, friendly and positive manner. I and my friends love our stays at the Melia and plan to go back as soon as possible.
“May have been nice in the late 80's”
If you are looking for a place to spend one night with no frills then this would work for the price. But it is absolutely not luxury. Service was not bad but was not great. No one really seemed happy to be there.... as if they were tired of serving tourist that do not tip. I don't blame them.... all inclusive should just be for the room, food and drinks. Customers should be more thoughtful and tip the servers as they would normally. This hotel is very average and the clientel is not desirable.
“Not sure if was the hurricane but worst beaches I ever saw”
Hotel a location so far from everything, how ever mostly hotels are far from downtown. Food are ok, not the best but not bad at all. Room are old style, however are confortable. Beaches are dirty, messy but white sand... Recently passed a Hurrican Rina and the sea is messed up an brown... honestly BROWN. However mostly hotels in Cozumel does not have beaches, so....
“can't wait to go back... going back in february and just got back a week ago. Philipe is the best!”
Had a awesome time there except that we encountered a hurricane... would recommend to anyone to go but except during hurricane season plenty to do plenty eat plenty to drink. You have to try the crepes delicious . Rent a jeep and drive the island it gorgeous.
“Off season”
Even though we went during off season, the service, food, rooms and overall experience was great!!
“Relaxing and fun”
Hotel was very nice and staff was extremely helpful and gracious. My only complaint is that the food was usually just luke warm but there was plenty. We most certaiinly did not go hungry. Drinks were very good and strong and service was excellent. Will certainly go back.
“Return trip”
I stayed at this hotel a few years ago and this time was just as good as the first. Can't find better service. Good beach, close to town.
