Horrible hotel STAY AWAY!

Pros: Checking out! Even that was a major hassle. They didn't want to give paper receipts and the itemized bill was not available in English. This is a scam
Cons: The resort needs to be torn down and rebuilt. The hotel is a scam that charges for items that are never mentioned until checking out.
Location: Nothing to do in walking distance. Stay farther south.
On check in they wanted us to pay to log onto hotel computers to print our confirmation. The email and confirmation number were not enough. The clerk stated they need a printed copy and copies of all guest passports to get paid, not true according to Expedia. We booked an ocean view, they tried to give us a Garden view. The room they moved us to smelled of mildew and had mold growing in the bathroom and around the AC vent. We were forced to pay for a more expensive "suite" just to have a room that was not a science experiment. The upgraded room was comparable to a Motel 6. The rooms are damp and dirty. It took 4 hours to get checked in even after involving the manager. Once we finally got a room Expedia called the room phone looking for another guest that was having difficulty with the check in process. I suspect unhappy customers are the norm at this property. I stay in hotels almost every week and this is by far the lowest quality hotel I have seen in years. Not enough beach chairs or shade to enjoy the beach. Towels are treated like rare art forms and must be exchanged away from the pool with a separate hotel card than the room key card. Wifi is only available in the lobby and because of this no seating is available most of times.The cabanas are for members only and can't be rented by "regular" guests. The bars open and close at different times every day and even when open the staff acts like getting you a drink is a huge favor. Stay someplace this hotel is terrible!!

Cons: Food areas need to have better air flow or simply install air conditioners for buffet and sit down meals!!!
Location: The centro and close to island activities!!
Service was great. I would suggested that for the Cafe Parasis (sit down indoor facility) they actually enforce the dress code and turn on the air. Food was excellent but my husband followed the rules and wore long pants only to become extremely hot because resturant was extremely hot and enclosed with NO air conditioning and no air flow. There were several other gentlemen there with shorts and flip flops on and they were hot as well. Hard to enjoy your meal when the your dress code is long pants and enclosed shoes!!!!!!!

Awesome hotel with all the amenities and steps from the beach. Great food, service and hospitality. Lupe and Nemecio were our waiters and did an awesome job! A couple of negatives: dinner reservations process should be reconsidered. We were the 3rd ones in line and many reservations were already booked. Please be fair. We took time out of our day to stand in line so everyone else should do the same. Access to para sailing. We had to swim to the boat because Melia doesn't have access on the nearby pier. Heads up.

Small resort with nice beach

Old cold water style AC so nothing dries. Many rooms have non-functioning AC Mgmt more concerned with selling time shares. Was told that Melia plans to upgrade to 5star within 6 months. There is no way that can happen. Beach nice but water smelly and lots if seaweed. Non-mgmt staff very nice and hard working. Food is average.

Pros: Price and cleanliness.
Cons: Food choices and availability. Should be a late night snack option available. popcorn. chips, hotdogs, hamburgers, pizza and drinks.
Location: Outstanding snorkeling easily available.
The resort itself is nice. Plenty of activities for the kids and adults. Rooms are clean and efficient. The customer service is a little above average. My wife and I main problem was the food options and availability. For a first time all inclusive visitor, one may be satisfied. Not enough options for lunch and dinner. The desert selection is awful and the same for every meal. Nothing available after 11pm. Really? One vending machine located near the main lobby which was broken during our stay. Breakfast is the best meal of the day.

Beautiful scenery - horrible food, and rooms

Cons: This resort needs updates, and more staff to keep the rooms clean.
Location: Playa de Carmen was excellent
We got to the resort around noon, we were told the room would be ready by 3 pm. At 3:30 pm we were told it was ready - took our luggage up and the room had not been cleaned. Also, we reserved a room with a King size bed, and we received two doubles. They did not offer to move us, instead they said they would have it clean...... It was clean by 6 pm that night! The food in the buffet was horrible and by the time my trip was over the smell of it made me sick.

Excellent Honeymoon Location

Pros: The staff was friendly and engaging. The activities were all included.
Cons: There were wet towels in the bathroom when we arrived, and one day our door was not fully closed after the room was cleaned.
Location: Taking the Fury Catamaran off the main pier for a snorkeling and private beach party excursion and going to Chankanaab for dolphin and zip line fun.
My husband and I stayed at Melia for our honeymoon. It was right on the beach with kayaking and snorkeling included, our must-haves. The staff was all very friendly, the included buffets and drinks were delicious, and there was always entertainment going on, whether it was a dance show, mini golf tournament, or a movie on the beach.

OK Hotel, but don't expect everything you book

Pros: Staff are friendly and the beach is great. Drinks were good, food was OK.
Cons: Getting the room that you booked including bed size and a mini bar.
Location: beach, water sports
If you think you are getting a mini bar and a king sized bed, think again. We booked both and got neither. Our friends paid 45 a night extra once we got there to upgrade - even though this is what we had paid for when we booked. The "stocked" mini bar allowed them 2 beers and 2 waters a day in it - no more. Other than that, it was an OK place to stay. The beach is GREAT and the staff are very friendly. The drinks were good, but the drinks in the hotel lobby bar are watered down. Also, there is no night life at the resort and no night club (though it is listed as an amenity). If you are looking for a place to just relax and enjoy then this is it. Not a place for partiers - and I was thankful for that. Also, the food was just OK. It wasn't terrible, we found thinks to eat, but breakfast was most definitely the best of the buffet meals. The others were just OK. The hotel guests at the hotel next to us said they were starving that their food was so bad, so we counted ourselves very lucky. Overall, I would stay here again. Was a great trip.
