Beautiful beach for kids

Posted Jan 31, 2015
The beach was great because the days we were there there were no waves; my 3 year old and 5 month old were able to enjoy the water. The buffet food is not good.

Melia first timers

Posted Jan 30, 2015
First time visting stayn at this hotel on North Side of island. arrival was very easy at checkin but room was not ready although it was 12:30pm so didn't expect it. After registering we were greated wuth hitel concierge who sat down with us to explain hotel property and smoothly slip in an invite for a 90 minute presentation on purchasing a future stay. I quickly decline and after one rebuttal they stopped and let it go. Restaurants were good overall although we did not get reservations at the luxury restaurant as it fills very fast so get in line Early if you want a table. Beach was nice soft white sand. It was windy most of our stay so water was a little merky although we went to South side island beaches and very nice Crystal clear blueish waters. The bars serve pretty decent drinks and variety, tipping is always optional. Adult only pool is very cold this time of year bc hotel tower blocks Sun. The kids pool is Sun ladden and the place to be if you wanna lay next to the pool otherwise beach is the area. Free wifi only in lobby area which has many chairs and couches. Jr suite was very clean and nice. Bed was so so in comfort. Mini-bar is just that mini! If you want more than two beers just ask otherwise that's what you get. Free bottle water daily in rooms with coke, sprite. Overall a good experience and always was $85 pesos to town each way in cab. The gym spa was good too. Weights and dumbells up to 75#. Two treadmills and stationary bike.

Many kids activities.

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Our initial impression was not good. We were told that our room would not be ready for a couple of hours and that we would be given a room with 2 beds
Cons: 1- a different reservation method for the restaurants 2- a hot tub 3- allowing guests to check in sooner than 3pm.
Location: A nice location. Requires a taxi/rental to get to downtown or any activities off the resort.
We enjoyed our stay at Melia Cozumel. Overall, I would say for the money it was worth it. We did have a great vacation.

Relaxing, quiet, with lovely beach

Posted Jan 24, 2015
Pros: The property is lovely, the beach is sandy, lots of places to sit and read. Free bottled water.
Cons: Time share people - Club Melia - were horriblyaggressive this year. Refuse any meeting request, even to "hear about the resort". We did and no problem
Location: Paved walk/bike path goes 2 miles to a marina. Sidewalks all the way into town. Short walk to golf club/Audubon sanctuary for bird watching.
This was our fifth year at this resort. We go early in January and enjoy the low-key atmosphere. This is a place for relaxing and not a wild party place. Garden view rooms have a partial ocean view from the third or fourth floor and you can watch a very large iquana climb up onto the restaurant roof every morning! The tower rooms, we stayed on the 9th floor, have an amazing ocean view. Rooms have large balconies. Beds can be a bit firm. The staff are pleasant, accomodating, and friendly. We have seen the same waiters and bartenders year after year. The buffet food changes daily and we have always found something that was tasty - especially the soups. They make a nice Cosmopolitan, and in the morning you should order champagne and add some of the tangerine juice for a delightful mimosa! The activities include mini-golf, lots of fun. You can have bicycles delivered to the hotel, but arrange this ahead of time or you will pay an additional commission to the concierge. There are plenty of beach lounge chairs and in the middle of the day you might even feel like you have the resort to yourself this time of year. The beach is sandy at this resort and quickly changes to rocky at the neighboring resort. I enjoyed the free kayak (free for one hour each day). Free wi-if in lobby. We usually run or walk mornings, read on the beach all afternoon, walk into town and take a taxi back some days. Perfect vacation place for relaxing. Avoid time share folks in lobby-unfortunately aggressive.

Esperienza indimenticabile

Posted Jan 12, 2015

Little Disapointed

Posted Jan 9, 2015
The images that were on the website did not reflect how poorly and old this place was kept! Pools were overestimated but there is available seating around the pools. No waiter to take orders. There were only 3 restaurants to choose from. 2 of those restaurants required reservation at 11 AM everyday. The Buffet food was horrible and tasteless!! The spa was underdeveloped!! Basically it consisted of two rooms. A room for couple's massage and a room for an individual massage! Their attitude was negative ! A discomforting vibe was felt!! However, Lilly the conceirge was more than helpfull. She went over and beyond to assist us in everyway possible. The beach was not clean ! I saw a 2 liter empty bottle on the beach along with other people's leftovers! The resort is situated on the murkiest waters of the island

Very nice stay!

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The staff is terrific. At the reception desk, at the restaurants or the cleaning crew, they always had a smile and positive attitude to serve and help
Cons: The resort looks kind of old so I imagine that with time the property will be upgraded or updated.
Location: The location is not so far from downtown, a 11 US dollars ride each way. Taxi cabs arrive pretty quickly.
We had a very nice stay at the resort. The activities scheduled for customers were of our pleasure. The beach is calm and not crowded, you can enjoy walking at the beach with great pleasure. They have 3 places where you can eat calmly and if you choose to have a more elegant dinner you can pick the Cafe Paraiso, but make sure to wear long pants (for men), there is a dress code that it is not well informed to customers.

Fantastic Experience

Posted Dec 29, 2014
The resort is perfect size and maintained impeccable with a casual atmosphere. This by no means is a Cancun type “party till you puke” resort; I never witnessed any obnoxious or offensive behavior. We enjoyed meeting all the other guests and made some wonderful new friends, hi to all. The set up is very well thought out with services convenient at all areas of the facility. I really appreciated that the activities and adult pool were separated so if you want quiet time the adult pool offered that and the adult concept was strongly enforced. The activities pool always had some type of game or activity going on and the entertainment team was engaging but not pushy. The beach was a mess the day we arrived from all the seaweed from a recent storm, they worked diligently daily on removal and by the end of the week the beach was beautiful. We booked a garden view room which looked nice but chose to upgrade to the ocean view for a reasonable cost, I’m glad we did, thanks Miguel. The room had just been redone and the ocean views were breath taking, it did have an earthy smell from being closed but dissipated when we opened the slider and never returned during our stay. It had all the amenities we needed, safe; frig with beverages that were replenished daily, flat screen TV, and a beautiful balcony with chairs overlooking the ocean. It was so relaxing to wake up in the morning and watch the cruise ships come in. The only things that were missing was a dresser which would have been ni

Christmas in Cozumel

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Do not rent your car from Concierge we got a jeep with no doors and 1 window wiper (brief rain) for our trip around the island. It broke down everytime we stopped and they did nothing about cause it was cash only set up so pay with credit card so you can disputed it. Food was ok, breakfast was the best. Staff very friendly and always cleaning.

Good golf vacation

Posted Dec 22, 2014
Pros: Melia Cozumel includes a golf package which is first rate. The hotel is on the beach--very beautiful.
Cons: Better Internet connection. Coffee in the rooms. Coffee in the lobby in the mornings.
Location: Golf at the Cozumel Country Club.
This was our 3rd trip to Melia for the all inclusive golf, meals and drinks. Our first year, we were in the Tower, second year in the Ocean View Suites and this year in the Garden Level Suites. The best buy for the money is the Ocean View Suites. I didn't think the dinner in the dining room was as good this year as the last two years. There were a couple of nights where it was very good--roasted vegetables and good fish. The staff is very nice and jovial.
