“Playa Azul--Couldn't get any better!”
The small, intimate and beutiful Playa Azul Hotel, was perfect for my getaway. It was quite during the week, with alittle more activity over the weekend. People from various countries were staying at the hotel. The most outrageous views of the water from my balcolny and the beach only steps away.
“Unwanted Guest...Hurricane Dean”
Chose Playa Azul because my wife and I wanted something smaller, less crowded, and quiet, but still on the beach. The inexpensive golf 5 minutes away was also a big plus. Playa Azul hit the mark. Gorgeous, clean, top floor room with ocean view. Most guests were couples like us so we could enjoy some quiet time on the beach. Be aware that all beaches are public so at times non-guests became a nuisance. Complimentary breakfast was excellent and uncrowded. Encountered some inconsistencies with hotel staff...don't expect to be pampered. Beach bar was convenient and clear calm water to snorkle and swim was a plus. Trip was cut short by hurricane evacuation but we'll be back to do all we had planned.
“Staff was Great”
It's obvious that this hotel has had the same staff for a long period of time as they all work great together and aim to please. One of the things that myself and my family and friends enjoyed was how convienant everything was and not spread over a large area. It's very cozy and easy to keep up with your party. We did not do the all inclusive thing that a lot of hotels do as we wanted to taste & tour the island, even though, the food was great at the Playa Azul when we did eat there. We meet a lot of people there that have been going back for years which says a lot about the place. Also most of the staff made a point of referring to us by our name after a couple of days which is a nice touch. It's probably also one of the best located hotels on the island. We would go again in a minute.
“Will definitely stay there again!”
The staff is excellent! The free breakfast buffet had some of the best food we had the whole trip and the rest of the meals we had at the hotel were terrific. We were looking for a quite, relaxing atmosphere and that is exactly what we got. The staff kept close watch of our things while we were snorkling and were always willing to take pictures of my wife and I. Although the beach is not large, the snorkling directly in from of the hotel and 100 yards on either side of the hotel was great. Compared to a lot of the other beaches and resorts we saw while we were there, the Playa Azul was one of the best kept and cleanest we found. Everything is pretty convenient. We never had to wait for more than 30 seconds for a taxi and it is only a 3 or 4 minute ride to the town square. If you are looking for a wild party sceen, try a different hotel, but if you want a nice romantic relaxing vacation, the Playa Azul is the best place.
“jewel of a hotel”
You will not be disappointed if you stay at Playa Azul. It's in the quieter north end of the island and the hotel is small and just the perfect place to relax. The breakfast buffet is so good and the food overall is very good.
“Great hotel choice”
This was a very nice hotel that met all the descriptions I read prior to the trip. There's a great little beach club, and pretty good snorkeling on-site. Since we stayed a week, it was nice to be just far enough and north enough on the island to escape the crowds of cruise ship passengers. Yet, it's only about 5 minutes to the main shopping district and other food areas around town. The staff was very friendly, and they exemplify high standards of maintenance. We would definitely return.
“Playa Azul Hotel Cozumel MX”
We arrived at the hotel about 11:30 am. Even though check in wasn't until 3:00pm they were able to have our room prepared and ready in about 15 minutes. No hassle to get in. Hotel is close to town so if you are there for shopping and snorkeling on the tours it is nice. Service was excellent in all aspects. Small hotel great for a romantic getaway with your significant other. Hotel restaurants are clean and easily accessible. Breakfast that was included with with our stay was superb. I recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to get away and relax from all your cares.
“Can't wait to go back”
We loved it! The hotel is outside of town, quiet, small but only a 5 minute drive into town with taxis always available. The rooms with patios were very comfortable and roomy. Breakfast buffet had something for everyone, delicious. My husband went swimming in the ocean every day and loved the golf. I did a diving refresher course and 2 dives with Pro Dive Mexico the onsite dive company, the prices were very reasonable and the staff knowledgable and friendly. The new spa services are great. My husband and I agree that the best thing about this hotel is the staff. Front desk, gift shop, housekeeping, bar and resturant servers all go out of their way to make your stay special. We miss them as much as we miss the beautiful island and weather.
“Peaceful. Wonderful. We WILL be back!”
Wonderful little hotel. Great location. Awesome staff! Sangria to die for! The rooms were just enough with nipple dropping air conditioning and enough water pressure to blast the salt and sand right off my head! My only quip was that there was no small refrigerator in the room. And we were told upon check-in that there were no ice machines - you had to bring your bucket to the bar. My husband and I went to Chedraui (supermarket) and purchased a styrofoam cooler and then went to Sedena (market) every other day for ice. It wasn't until the night before our last that one of the waiters told us that there WERE refrigerators and we could get bags of ice free from the bar. Would have been nice to know that earlier. Nonetheless, it's a wonderful little hotel with a beatiful patch of ocean surrounding it. Quite. Remote. And still five minutes from all the action downtown. We shall return!
“Will stay there again and again and again!!!!!”
Extreamly pleased with all aspects of our stay at Playa Azul. Small, 4 story botique hotel with ocean view from every room. Several eating options on grounds from casual to fine dining including free breakfast buffet. Free golf at Cozumel Country Club, and dive shop on the grounds with pick up at their pier. Beach area is great for sun seekers, a little tough to get around rocks to get in the water, but once there nice swimming and snorkeling right in front of the hotel. To far to walk to town so must use cab each way, a little spendy but still cheeper then car rental. If (when) we return to Cozumel we will without doubt stay at Playa Azul.
