Feels like staying with friends

Posted May 23, 2015
Pros: Staff, great drinks, very accommodating in every way.
Cons: Update the bathrooms as it's almost impossible for a woman to shave her legs. Ceiling fans in the bedroom so you can leave the door wall open at night
Location: On the north end of the island so not close to anything, need to take a taxi or rent a Jeep ( which hotel can do at a great rate)
This is our 5 th time staying at Playa Azul and we'll be back. From the minute we arrived we were remembered and welcomed with hugs. The chef at breakfast knew what I liked from previous years- amazing. We love the intimacy of the beach . Every room has a beautiful view. The hotel is old and not for 5 star patrons but we wouldn't go anywhere else on Cozumel!!

Beautiful views.

The hotel was great. The staff provided everything that was requested. There was always a taxi available to head into town. The restaurant chef even cooked the mahi mahi my girlfriend and I caught. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Nice little hotel north of downtown.

Nice sea, ok and cheap foods, clean room, good hotel. Internet is a bit slow though also some days we smelt the sewer but it was ok mostly. It is a bit cheap side and it impacts the clientele. When we were it was pretty much empty but last couple of days was a bit awkward.

You don't have to be giant to be spectacular

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: The high point of this hotel is the easy access to world class clear water and its quiet layed back atmosphere. Snorkel or swim to you drop.
Cons: One point of improvement can be the doors to the rooms: the knobs are flimsy and there are no security chains to give you an added sense of security a
Location: The golf course is offers a world class experience. A secure and quiet 3 mile boulevard leads to the city center, its restaurants and shopping.
This is our second stay at the Playa Azul and the Caribbean experience was as spectacular as ever. . You never have to wait for very good beachfront bar and food service. We can't imagine trading this spot for many of the other mega hotels in Cozumel. The breakfast buffet is of high quality and you can write home about the ceviche, however, I have been served better fajitas. One point of improvement can be the doors to the rooms: the knobs are flimsy and there are no security chains to give you an added sense of security at night.

I have not been back to Cozumel in years and when I was there it was on the South side of the island. It was nice to be away from the downtown but not too far away that you couldn't enjoy everything it offers. A short $8 cab ride away. The location is great! You will find not find long sandy beach front but that is the case at most hotels on Cozumel, what they have is very nice, you are right on the water and the view from the room was very nice! WILL RETURN...

Awesome beach stay

Posted Apr 15, 2015
Pros: The staff and the uncrowded feel of the beach
Location: Go about 1/4 mile south and snorkeling is really pretty good. The guides with Blue Dream diving were awesome!
We just spent a week there with our teenage kids and loved every minute of it. The staff is phenomenal and so friendly. The snorkeling right off shore and a little south was wonderful. We ate at the restaurant pretty much every night. While you can probably find better food somewhere, we found it quite good and with the relaxed atmosphere , friendly staff and location on the beach....well we just wanted to hang out and this was a great way to relax. Given the relatively small size of the hotel, the beach was never crowded the entire time. The dive shop on site, BlueDream was awesome! Our 12 year old did the discover scuba class and then went on 4 boat dives right away. The guides were awesome. I watched them with not only our kid but some others and they really made the experience special.

Good hotel; peaceful and quiet

Nice hotel with excellent location. Locals also use the beach and restaurant so it's not that private. Waitstaff and bartenders could be better. Food is average but not too bad.

Do not miss this place.

Location: We love being a little away from the downtown area, but enjoy walking into town for dinner in the cool of the evening.
We are return visitors to Playa Azul. We are always treated like family and welcomed warmly. The rooms are comfortable, the staff warm and helpful, the beach is well maintained with plenty of lounge chairs, and the breakfast is very good. We eat lunch often at the outdoor restaurant....the food and beverages are great. Our room had a spectacular ocean view with great sunsets.
