The staff is amazing!

Pros: THE STAFF! :)
Visited Secrets for our honeymoon. I have never received better service. Staff treated us as if we tipped them 100 dollar bills every time they assisted us with something. It is because of the staff that we loved Secrets so much.

Very Nice. Beautiful beaches

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Food was great, great drinks, staff very nice
Cons: More variety of beers and colder beer. Manicure the landscaping, and fix the sewer smell
Great Food, great rooms. I recommend ocean view. Rooms are much bigger than pool view rooms. Also, rent a car and go to other side of island and visit beaches, absolutely awesome.

Right on the beach

Pros: The staff was fun and friendly. The beach dinner and entertainment were good. Loved the bed on the balcony. The mojitos were top notch!
Cons: The bathrooms are awkward. You don't really have a mirror to use while getting ready.
We've traveled to several different places in the Caribbean (twice to Riviera Maya, twice to Punta Cana, Bahamas, twice to Jamaica, St. Lucia). This was one of the most underwhelming trips we had. The hotel was decent--pretty small, restaurants were ok at best (our first meal included a quesadilla with american cheese and a chicken sandwich with the same)--but their mojitos were fantastic, the beach was ok. When I go to the beach, I want The Beach--waves coming in, nice sand to walk on. That's not what you get here. It's more like being at a lake since it's on the western side of the island. That was a bit disappointing. A few things to note: 1. Do NOT get roped in to one of the people at the airport "giving" you a car for the week. Just take a taxi. You can rent a car at the resort. It took us more than 2 hours to get out of the airport waiting for the car. Part of the deal was that we agreed to listen to a 90 minute, no-pressure timeshare presentation at a different resort in Playa del Carmen. Nope!! It took the ENTIRE DAY. We left at 8:30 a.m. and didn't get back until 6:30 p.m. And it was awful. I eventually had to get really rude with the timeshare people so they would let us leave and stamp our paper for the rental car. Never. Ever. Again. 2. It was nice having a car to drive around the island. Really pretty on the other side. 3. The ruins aren't worth all the mosquitos. 4. You can't swim--at all--off the beach unless you snorkel.

Great food. Great alcohol. Great beach. Overall very nice and clean. Wouldn't spend the extra money for a better beach view. Not worth the extra costs

Cozumel honeymoon

Posted Jun 22, 2014
We booked secrets aura for our honeymoon hoping for a good break after our wedding. We were not dissapointed at all the resort provided us with a relaxing atmosphere on a gorgeous beach. Our only issues would be the food, which was really good for the first few days but became pretty repetive now I will say that I am a foodie and cook all the time. I guess being on an island I had hoped for both fresh seafood as well as local fair. I would imagine that to keep cost reasonable They have to have some buffet style food. I will say that we did have the fresh catch on the beach one afternoon that was really good fresh fish grilled steps from the ocean. The staff at the hotel was excellent, one word of caution do Not redeem your key for coupons as it will result in a 90min hotel tour that is actually a pitch for a vacation club they will lure youn in with hotel coupons. The resort itself is actually very nice and exceptionally clean. Also you have access to the resort right next door sunscape however it's allows kids and seemed to be a more rowdy atmosphere. All in all we had a great time with no regrets and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing time on the beach

Very very nice relaxing get away. Enjoyed every minute from the time we were welcomed w/a glass of champagne at check in until the final taxi ride out. Would definitely stay there again

Beautiful view with poor service

Posted Jun 13, 2014
We loved the view of the ocean. The pools were nice. But the wait for service and few options for food were very disappointing. We always had to wait for drinks if we could find a waiter. Also we were told on several occasions they were out of something only to see it being served 20 min later...champagne, duck, and scallops. Will not go back with other options available.

Excellent hotel, outstanding staff!

My husband and I joined another couple for a celebratory trip to Cozumel and stayed at Secrets Aura. We had a great experience. The hotel was beautiful and very well kept. Everything was kept very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our swim-up suite. The food was really good and we really enjoyed the multiple options that were available to us. At times the food could be a bit slow to reach our table, but nothing too bothersome. Most of all we loved the staff! We felt as though the staff really went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. William Z. along with all of the "Activities" staff really made a great impression and made our stay one to remember! We will definitely be going back to Secrets Aura in the future and would highly recommend it to others!
