“if to be in Cancun, would be at this hotel”
great restaurants within 2 blocks
“very handy for downtown”
Good value for money-older hotel but clean and well kept up.We were on 2nd floor with ocean view- could hear traffic till late at night-think 3rd floor would have been lees noisy.Good breakfast
“Decent hotel”
This was a nice hotel at a good price. There is no parking, but that is normal on Cozumel. The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. It was easy walking to shopping and food.
“Bahia”
The main complaint I have with this room is that the air conditioner is very load. If there were a fan in the room I would have used that instead of the noisy AC, but it was warm enough that we had to turn it on. Other than that, there is free wi fi, they clean your room top to bottom everyday and having a microwave and fridge in the room is a great bonus!
“Bahia Suites, Cozumel”
Rooms are spacious and clean, with refrigerator, sink, and balcony. We're scuba divers, and the secure balcony gave us a good place to hang wet gear. Bathroom is tiny and water pressure is lacking. (The elevator also is tiny but since it's only a 4-story hotel we just took the stairs.) We live in the country and so the noise of the Malecon (the waterfront boulevard that runs in front of the hotel) took us by surprise but it was really a problem only on Saturday night.
“Convenient and inexpensive option”
For me this hotel was an easy choice based on other reviews, it's centrally located and they have a breakfast buffet deal with the Vista Del Mar hotel a block or two away which is well worth it. Suites Bahia is also only a block away from Aqua Safari dive shop which is where I ended up doing all my dives. The bed was a bit stiff but tolerable for the price. I had a fridge in my room which was nice for beer and water, which I got at the convenience store a half block away.
“Excellent Choice”
For the price, this hotel was awesome! Loved the free wi-fi (ask hotel clerk for a password) and the impressive buffet breakfast at the sister hotel (definitely worth tipping the workers! Nice people). Room is nice and big. One minor complaint is that it takes several minutes for the water in the shower to warm up. Run the left tap for awhile (the one marked 'C'; the one on the right, 'F', is for cold water).
“Great Stay at Bahia”
This hotel was great. It has a great location in the center of town. Only 2 blocks from the Plaza. The room was clean, and comfortable! The only bummer was that we had to use the AC, I would have perfered some kind of fan in the room. I would recommend staying here, the staff could communicate in English and were very helpful.
“Perfect for me”
I'm a city kind of guy, so I liked being in town with plenty of things going on and, most important to me, more contact with locals. I travel lightly, don't require posh accommodations, and am uncomfortable with overly attentive staff hovering about. Suites Bahia met my needs perfectly. There was a moment of uncertainty about my reservation, but it was cleared up quickly. My room was on the third floor overlooking the street and waterfront. There's a dock across the street used by various dive operators. The ferry and plaza are about three blocks north. The only two oddities were no table for eating (even though there was a kitchenette) and you had to step into the shower in order to close the bathroom door. Oh, the water pressure was marginal and you had to be attentive flushing. The AC worked well and quietly. As is the case most places outside the US, the beds were very firm. I slept very well anyway. Unlike other places I've stayed on the island, wi-fi was totally FREE (though not that fast or powerful). Just get the login code at the desk.
“Suites Bahia excellent low price choice”
Nice features of the hotel: continental breakfast with fresh fruit and pastries, functional elevator, friendly front desk staff, large rooms, kitchenettes, relatively quiet, close to downtown, easy for divers to catch a boat. Problem: in October 2007 the street in front of hotel and many downtown streets are torn up for reconstruction. Very difficult getting in and out of hotel, and impossible to keep dirt and sand off feet. But that is a temporary problem. I would guess that by Thanksgiving all the reconstruction will be close to finished. Also, there isn't a safe lock-box for hotel guests. All they have is a manila envelope with masking tape. Leave expensive items at home.
