Older hotel however well maintained.

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Location: On the main highway as most hotels are in Cranbrook. Close to shopping and downtown.
Older motel - not all furniture in room matched, however nice to have Keurig coffee maker, along with fridge and microwave. Had to go to office for ice. Quite basic - didn't have hairdryer or clock - which was inconvenient Offered free breakfast - however not on site. Provided voucher for restaurant approximately block away. For great room price it was quite adequate. Exterior beautiful with lots of flowers and hanging baskets.

Thank you very much for your comments. We appreciate that you enjoyed your stay. We will endeavor to make sure each room has a clock, although in today's world most people carry some kind of digital time access. Our power situation denies us the permanent placement of hair dryers in the room because the breakers trip, if too many appliances are on at one time. We do have hair dryers available, just ask at the front desk. We are trying to upgrade our furniture as we get to each room that needs renovation. Glad you enjoyed the flowers, they are especially beautiful this year. Thanks again for staying with us, and hope to see you again soon.

Room booking was incorrect

Posted Jun 2, 2015
Pros: Central location.
Cons: Further upgrades. We watched a staff member power wash a room 2 doors down from our room for 2 days. Not a comforting sign.
Location: Great golf. Check out Wildstone GC, a Gary Player venue. Historic Sam Steele Days are fabulous. Go to Jim Smith Lake for a picnic.
The room we had booked was incorrect upon arrival. A substitute room was offered and after we unpacked we found it to be filthy and mouldy. We reapproached the desk clerk saying this was not what we saw on Expedia and would leave, and then he upgraded us to another room which had been renovated and was very nice at no extra charge. It's quite noisy with highway traffic and squeaky floors above us which made for a difficult sleep at times. Breakfast chits were included as well but the Husky restaurant was pretty sad. Overall location was good since we could walk to our event down the street, and drive for some local sightseeing, which was really a fun experience. There is not a lot of choice for good, reasonable accommodation downtown Cranbrook but it is a great place to visit.

Hello Courtney, In response to your review we would like to take issue with your points with the following facts : 1. Since you booked the room thru an Expedia Portal there is actually no way to reserve a room in error because Expedia does confirm your room type before you pay for it. We actually did have available for you the room that you requested in your reservation. 2. In regards to the initial room you were assigned, In the words of our head housekeeper, " it was clean and ready for use". We do appreciate that the room is on our list of rooms to be renovated and we have slated it for renovation soon. 3. We make no bones about the highway noise in Cranbrook and all 16 hotels suffer from the same problem we are all next to the highway and the reviews at all hotels do reflect that. We do as a courtesy provide free of charge ear plugs for those light sleepers among our guests. 4. We here at the Kootenay Country Inn are very happy with our 4 year relationship with the Cranbrook Husky Travel Centre Restaurant. They provide great meals at a reasonable price, and we get lots of kudos from our guests who do appreciate the service and the food. 5. We did upgrade you to a kitchenette at no extra charge, and we appreciate that you enjoyed your stay in that room. Hope that we can meet your needs better next time. regards Andrew

We do state on our detail sheet before you confirm your reservation, that we close the office at 1030pm MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME. We called you and left a message en francais at 9pm, on the night of arrival to remind you that we close at 1030pm Mountain Time, and we called Expedia to ask them to contact you if they had an alternate number or email address they did not and could not help). If we had known you were going to be late we would made arrangements for your late arrival. To try and say we provided bad service is very unfair. We did everything possible to contact you.

What A Nice Stay

Posted Mar 6, 2015 on Hotels
Nice locality, pleasant staff, excellent service, quiet comfortable room, breakfast coupon was excellent, and they were very helpful at check in, especially with our pet. The booking agent we dealt with didn't inform us about lobby closure time of 10:30 PM and got our non-smoking request wrong. The Kootenay Country Inn staff dealt with these issues in a prompt and satisfactory manner, and I'd recommend them to family & friends.

Well all of us here at the Kootenay Country Inn are very flattered by your very kind comments Beverley Jean. It really makes our day to have someone so enjoy their stay that they want to tell all our friends about us. That is a very good bonus too! Come back soon!

One night cheap...only positive factor

Posted Feb 5, 2015
Pros: Book library ...books for a buck
Noisy, old TV, phone didn't work. Just a place to crash if you have sleeping pills to knock out the highway noise

Thanks for the comment, unfortunately all of the hotels on the strip in Cranbrook suffer from the same noise. We are planning on replacing doors and windows in our next major renovation plan. So we will have much quieter rooms in place. We pride ourselves on being very attentive to our guests' needs and if we had known about the phone problem we would have fixed it. Safe travels!
