We enjoyed it so much that we made reservations for another stay before we left! Also strongly reccomend the steak and lobster restaurant! Our waiter James was excellent!

Short Stay

Posted Oct 5, 2013
We ended up extending our 1 day stop over to 2 days due to the incredible area and pleasant hotel. The breakfast special for $3.33 is really great value. We also recommend the lobster and steak restaurant, which although pricey did give us a high quality, enjoyable meal. The room was very cosy and spotlessly clean.

Beautiful but not ideal for family

Posted Aug 12, 2013
Pros: Beautiful room, extremely comfortable bed.
Cons: Put a door on the bathroom.
This was a beautiful, clean, and extremely comfortable hotel room. The beds were amazingly comfortable with fluffy comforters and lots of pillows. The only negative was that the bathroom afforded very little privacy. It has no door. That doesn't really work for a family very well.

Border House

Posted Jul 16, 2013
Cons: Lighting in room we stayed in was very poor.
The Border House is very nice. Well appointed - room very clean and new. It has the feeling of being a B&B. Did not like having to go into the casino to register. Probably would not stay in Crystal Bay again.

The room was very nice and clean. Loved the huge bathtub. Our batteries were low in ou remote control and they brought new ones right away and gave us free drinks at the live concert. Really nice place!

Fun & quaint hotel

Posted Feb 24, 2013
Pros: Decor, fireplace, disco bath tub with bubbles
Cons: No stairs, check-in process,
Location: On the border so next to casinos, but must eat at Log Cabin for breakfast just down the road
The hotel itself is great!!! Very welcoming and nice large rooms, but checking in is another story. You have to check in through the casino which isn't bad, but there is only one little sign at the Players Club desk stating to check in there. I actually had to ask one the guys in the cage where to check in and they had to page someone to come to the desk. The two way fireplace in the room is cool; kinda weird cause it views into the bathroom which has a curtain for a door; but very romantic since it's also next to the awesome tub. It is a converted brew house and maintains alot of it's charm, but that also means no elevator so make sure to request first floor if necessary. Overall; would definitely stay there again.

Nice room at North Shore Lake Tahoe!

Difficult to find since we did not realize that you had to check in at the Player's Club at the Crystal Bay Casino and there was no signage for Border House. HOWEVER, once we found it and got to our room, we were VERY happy!!! Really awesome room (the bathroom could use a door instead of the curtain) and right next to a great beer place called Mellow Fellow! The room was perfect! The bed was comfy. The bathtub, shower, and 2 sinks were ideal for getting ready to go out (free 90's cover band that was performing at the Casino next door). Totally affordable and exactly what we were looking for!!!

Upscale and clean

Would definitely stay again. Nice bedding, huge tv, complimentary goodies, bathrobes, eco-friendly toiletries, and the biggest bathtub I've ever seen. Very nice overall. As others have mentioned, the only bad thing is that you have to check in next door at the smoke-filled casino. We were on the ground floor facing the road but heard absolutely zero traffic noise.
