“A great family place on the quiet end of the Lake,”

Cal/Neva just reopened two months ago under new owners and what aa difference they are making. We had a standard room which was very quiet, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were excellent and really went the extra mile to grant any request you had. We are looking forward to staying here again on our next visit to Lake Tahoe.

“It is what it is”

It is what it is, an older hotel resort with a lot of old school charm. The staff was great, food good; my room had decent view of the lake. It is hard to find places with this much history anymore. All the places where the stars used to hang out in Vegas have been torn down. There is not much of a casino and the place could use a little maintenance but they have done a great job of keeping it what it was. The best part of Cal Neva is being treated like a guest not a customer. I have stayed down in the big casino hotels in Reno but would rather chill at the Cal Neva. I will go back, I found it a nice place to relax and got a kick out of hanging out at Sinatra’s place, just have to grade it on what it is.

“Better Than Expected”

We expected our room to be on a lower floor, but we were given a room on the very top floor of the Hotel with a Lake View for a nominal flat fee for the three nights of our stay. The room was spacious and very clean, quiet for an older restoration. I would definetally recommend this Hotel to others.

“Wanted to move in... fix it but please don't change it!”

We fell in love with this place! It's old and needs work on all kinds of things... broken tiles, missing light bulbs, etc. But it's clean and comfortable and grand, with such an interesting history that we didn't mind all that... felt like a step back to the 60's. We booked through Expedia and the clerk upgraded us to a higher floor, then higher again to get the king we'd requested, plus a breathtaking view of the lake. Restaurant's lovely, staff congenial. No casino while we were there, a huge plus for us... no crowds or smoke. For some reason late Fri night the bar was blaring canned music, forcing us to close our window to get some sleep. Didn't need to spoil the atmosphere with that!

“Had a fabulous time”

I read the reviews before I chose this hotel and some of the comments were that the rooms were outdated, they were but I found them to be very clean, we had a beautiful view of the lake. It was conveniently located (was there to see Boney James). The staff was very friendly. I thought because the casino was small, not much of a chance of winning money but boy was I wrong. I had a great time and would most definitely come back and refer to my friends and family. For the price what more could a girl ask for. Thanks Cal Neva for an experience that I won't forget.

“Outstanding location and very pleasant staff!”

Very pleasant staff and perfect location. The Cal Neva, while a bit outdated, has the most perfect location in Crystal Bay. The desk staff upgraded my room to the 8th floor in a newer suite that had an amazing view of the lake. I couldn't have been more pleased with my room and the view. The hotel restaurant is good. There are several other places to dine in the area in addition to being close to hiking, the beach and casinos. The hotel is very quite at night. Would recommend not staying in the older, lower suites as they are in need of some serious updating.
