Great spot in Culiacan, exceeded my expectations!

Posted Jan 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Traveling for work, and with my girlfriend. The hotel is right next to a major mall in Culiacan, and also the River. Short distance to walk downtown across an interestingly lit bridge. While Culiacan has a pretty mixed reputation, I felt safe here, and my girlfriend did too. There's a pretty good seafood restaurant right across the street from the hotel. Aguachiles were quite amazing, beer was ice cold. Walking to the downtown area at night may be a little scary for the faint of heart, but you wouldn't be in Culiacan if you were not adventurous right?! It really is a great 15 minute walk to the old cathedral, and quite decent area for food. The hotel itself has kind of small rooms, but wasn't a problem. I booked 2 twin beds, which turned out to be full size, and also was easily able to lift up the nightstand separating the beds to get basically a king size going on. Rooms are clean, basic, beds are comfy, had 2 pillows. Staff were extremely courteous, free included breakfast was varied and delicious, had just enough separation and variety that I was happy as a carnivore, and gf was happy as a vegetarian. Taxis always available outside hotel, but be aware they don't have back seat seatbelts, and do drive quite scarily at times. I paid 70pesos for a ride to the Botanical Gardens (highly recommend 1hr+ there, donation to enter). Taxi to the airport I just gave the guy 150pesos and he seemed happy.

Tiny rooms, very basic and simple but good

Posted Jan 9, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great area next to the shipping mall and good restaurants around. It's very basic, but it has everything you may need. Free wifi, free breakfast, tv in both English and Spanish, and they have heater and AC in their rooms (not many hotels in mexico have that) . Only problem is the size of the rooms thy are tiny. It's the hotel for people on business trips, not good for families (although many of them were there)

Overall Pleasant

Posted Aug 29, 2013
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Bed sheets that fit. Larger beds. A sink that drains.
Location: Great location.
Sink had no drain and filled up with water. Twin size beds that the sheets didn't fit. The base sheet, which had no elastic edges to keep it on the bed, came off as soon as I laid down on the bed. Very uncomfortable tiny room. I don't know if any other options in the area would be better is my big concern.

great location, very clean, no issues

The rooms are small, compared to american hotels. but the hotel is fairly new and close to everything. the hotel chlorinates the water (I smelled it in the shower), which is a plus since it keeps you safe from getting montezumas revenge. The other plus is they actually have hot water in the shower (in mexico, most hotels that say "hot water" seem to really mean "slightly above cold = hot water")

Will stay here in the future

A clean, conveniently located hotel. An excellent choice for those who want just a place to sleep while shopping or doing business while in Culiacán.

paper walls. noise travels thru walls

Posted May 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
impossible to rest all noise from the other room is heard even the snoring of the neighbor. I am amazed , sheet-rock is now used in Mexico. This means that Americans have succeeded to change the good construction we once had. very small rooms too tight to be comfortable. New but uncomfortable. the door opens into the room and there is no room for you to walk in with bags to close the door. suitcases had to be placed on the bed in order to close door and give way to pass into the area to place suitcase.

great for the business traveler

Pros: new, clean and bright colors
Cons: complimentary water bottle was not available in the room. It is downstairs for a fee.
Location: great
This hotel is new construction. The area around the hotel is a modern and commercial mall area, convenient for shopping and dining. Room wireless connection is easy and fast. Rooms are clean and service is professional and efficient. Good AC and hot water. I would recommend it highly for the seasoned traveler.
