I drove from out of state for a family funeral. Upon arriving, I was told that there was no room for me because “our system allows overbooking on Expedia.” Thankfully, I arrived early in the day and was able to secure a room at another hotel. If I had waited until after the funeral to check-in, all hotels in the area would have been booked. When asked if I was going to be charged for the Expedia booking, which I paid for in advance, I was told I would need to contact Expedia. I will neither use Expedia again to book anything, nor will this hotel chain my first choice. Not a great system for travelers.
