Breakfast fit for the QueenPosted May 31, 2015
Pros: We were treated with utmost courtesy, Help was offered to bring our luggage up the stairs. Breakfast, served by Phil was outstanding
Cons: Better window coverings
Location: We had an all day bus pass and used it to visit many local sights, Wordsworth, Ruskin & Beatrix Potter farm. The surrounding countryside is stunning
The Beckmead is small and cozy We had a third floor room which was tight space but sparkling clean and attractively decorated with an excellent hot shower. The window coverings don't black out the room well which could be a problem for light sleepers. The wifi worked well. The location was an easy walk to Windermere , ten minutes, but about 20 minutes to Bowness each way. We found an excellent restaurant in Windermere, Francine's.

Lovely B&B. Close to town centrePosted May 23, 2015
Pros: Mostly the people running it. B&B was clean and well maintained, room was cleaned daily without being asked.Located in a nice area.
Cons: Cant really think of anything.
Location: Located within walking distance of town center. If driving Lake Winderemere and Ambleside only a short drive away.
My wife and arrived at Beckmead House in Windermere in the Lake District on 11/05/15 and stayed for 5 nights. On arrival we were greeted by the owner Phil. From the outset he was warm and friendly and offered to carry our large suitcase to our room which was on the top floor. He explained all that we needed to know i.e. breakfast times and the local area. Over the next few days of our stay we got to know Phils wife Tilly and Tillys dad Alf. Tilly was more in the back of house cooking, she was very pleasant and a lovely, friendly young lady. Alf was again a very lovely and friendly chap who made us feel very welcome as well. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The B&B is located in a nice quiet area with plenty of parking and also close to the local shops and transport. We really appreciated Phil, Alfs and Tillys warm, friendly and welcoming nature, all in all a very nice and friendly family run business. Would stay again and would recommend to family and friends.

The host family is really nice, very friendly people. However, the room is really small, especially the toilet and shower room.

Convenient. Good value of money.Posted Feb 24, 2015 on Hotels
Walkable distance to Windermere station (10min) & Bowness pier (20min downward, but 30min upward). Room is pretty small but comfortable. Private bathroom needa some improvement that the water pressure is too low & actually is not that hot. Still acceptable for a short stay at a relatively affordable price. The host is very friendly & provide us suitable assistance when you need it. Breakfast is just too perfect!!! That was the BEST breakfast I've ever had in My 15nights England & Germany trip. Tea in the room is also good.
