“A most enjoyable experience”

We stayed for two nights in Wansfell Lodge at the rear of the main hotel, well worth the extra few pounds for the view overlooking the river complete with balcony and seating area. The room was of superb quality, beautifully clean and finished to a high standard, the bathroom was one of the cleanest I've encountered. Breakfast was of a high standard and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The pool and spa area were immaculate with the added bonus of a hot tub outside, which we made a frantic dash to in the February weather, but was worth it. The location of this hotel is fantastic, we ditched the car at check in and didnt need to get back in it until we were (reluctantly) leaving. We would reccommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be going back!

A lot of money has been spent to bring this wonderful Lakes hotel into the 21st Century. Great environment. Breakfatst excellent. Spa looks good although didn't get into it.

“Cheshiregals”

Great location, lovely room with fantastic views overlooking Ambleside and the mountains beyond. Breakfast really good, staff in dining room very attentive. Bar and lounge area nicely decorated as was the dining room. Lift was out of order on the first day but as we were on the first floor we didn't need to use it. Will certainly use this hotel again.

“Ambleside salutation”

Mix up with booking as they had us down for 1 guest-my fault but they saw I'd paid for 2 and as we had a small room allocated we had an upgrade to a club trick. I don't suggest you try this! The rooms were detached from the hotel but that was no problem. The walls were a bit thin to adjining room but facilities super. the staff were excellent. The dining room was pricey but when we did use it it was very nice. even they couldn't control the weather but diod provide an umbrella to get to breakfast.

“Great Hotel”

The hotel is in a great location, smack bang in the centre of Ambleside with plenty of pubs and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. They've done a great job with the refurb and the rooms where good. The gym and swimming pool were fantastic, especially the outside hot tub. All in all a really good hotel. It might be pricey, but it is worth it!

“Good location for the Lake District”

A mile from the lakeside, but ideal for Ambleside in the evening where there is an excellent choice of restaurants for an evening meal. Spa has adequate gym nice pool and sauna and steam room. Only open to 7pm. Communal areas in hotel appear to be recently upgraded. Very tasteful. Enjoyed sitting in the library in the evening to have a read. Dining room light and airy, good freshly cooked breakfast with plenty of choice and pleasant staff. Room clean and tidy.If you want a large room check when you are booking ours was not generous in size, but adequate, had a dog with us so it might be set aside for visitors with dogs. It was at the back so was very quiet and had a view of the mountains. We will go to this hotel again.

“Very nice, great location”

Two nights in this hotel were really nice; great location for seeing the Lakes, walking, Windermere lake, local towns. Only slight negative was the bed - a little two small and uncomfortable. This should take nothing away from the overall standards of the hotel and the great service we received.

This is our second visit to this hotel and it was excellent again. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are great. We especially love the pool and hot tub after a long walk in the hills. The food is really good and great value as well. We will definitely be back.

We found the hotel to be great - the room was lovely, we made daily use of the pool and sauna facilities, and the breakfasts were superb. All the staff there were very friendly and helpful. We will definately stay at the hotel again
