This is a fantastic hotel. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable but it excels in many areas. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food it amazing. The gym is well equipped and the pool and steam room are lovely. There is a beauty business in the hotel and it was one of the best I've used. Obviously, the views are stunning.

“Excellent service”

This is a great hotel, though a little out of town. Our room was lovely - unexpectedly so - it had a small balcony looking over the rolling countryside. My partner left a jacket behind and this was posted out to him immediately - it arrived two days later, complete with money in the pocket! Excellent service all round.

The facilities of the swimming pool, steam room and gym were very good. The pool however was a little on the small side and rather crowded at peak times - but on the whole very modern, up to date facilities. The staff were all very friendly across the board.

“Will be going back”

The hotel was very well presented. Situated just outside Kendal with good views of the countryside from the restaurant. Room was very good, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great, almost all the food is locally sourced and very fresh. Next time in the lakes area we'll be going back. Would recommend hotel as a place to stay.

“A delightful surprise in the eastern Lake District”

I stay in a lot of hotels around the world for business reasons and when I first walked into this one I thought this would be another bland hotel with no identity. My wife and I were delighted that my first impressions were so wrong. The staff were attentive, helpful and genuinely concerned that we enjoyed our stay. This is so rare, especially in England. The leisure centre had everything we needed. The restaurant food and service were far better than I would expect in a 3-star hotel (I wish someone would explain the star system; we stayed in a 4-star hotel 2 nights later which was very poor by comparison). Our room was clean, the shower excellent and the bed large and comfortable - the 3 "musts" for any successful hotel stay, in my view.
