Fine base for the Lake DistrictPosted Oct 5, 2013
Location: Penrith is a fine starting point for touring the Lake District. There are several good places to eat within easy walking distance.
Mel and Laney are delightfully friendly and helpful hosts. They provided us with a spotlessly clean room and splendid breakfasts. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly.

A perfectly fine option for PenrithPosted Sep 9, 2013
Pros: Great breakfasts, accommodating hosts, large bed, manageable parking
Cons: Rooms are a bit on the small side by some standards but not a big problem.
Location: You are 30 minutes from the heart of the western lakes at Keswick. Penrith itself has only a ruined castle to recommend it as a tourist destination.
Brandlehow is a townhouse near the center of the market town of Penrith. Not a whole lot to see in Penrith itself although decent dining options are within walking distance of the B&B but it makes for a good base to explore the area. The rooms are a bit on the small side but are well appointed. Free on-street parking means a small schlep from your car to the hotel and then up the stairs but those logistics are manageable. The hosts, Mel and Laney, are delightful and quite accommodating. We used this as our base for exploring the Lake District and in retrospect that meant adding a 30 minute drive to and from wherever we were exploring, so perhaps Penrith is not the best location for that kind of trip. But the B&B itself is quite nice and if Penrith makes sense to you then Brandlehow will make sense as well.

Beautiful house and room .Excellent breakfast.Posted Aug 27, 2013
Pros: Excellent room with everything possible provided.Robes ,water , toiletries chocs biscuits . Bright and quiet room . Comfy bed ........
Cons: Height of Tv in room. Make guests aware of complementary homebaking and vast choice for breakfast on arrival please ! 2 keys for room.Teapot in room.
Location: Close to town centre. Go to Aira Force waterfall and walks . beautiful !
Didnt realise we could have tea and home made cake on arrival . Was confused about offer of tea on arrival and just assumed we would use the ones provided in room , so just said we would go to room . This is lovely apparently and so disappointed missed this now. Host did offer it but didnt really know what it was til looked at the guest info in room .Massive bed very comfy with luxuxy bedding.Clean and lovely bathroom.TV too high on wall really in the Oak room for comfortable viewing and too high to turn off so stand by light shone all night in my eyes. Hosts were nice but having been used to the very gushing Scottish personalities ,found them a but clinical in their approach. They never go on holiday so are constantlyworking to keep up the hotels 4 stars which are deserved with standard of accomodation. This may be why too busy to chat or feel like they are in a rush to go. Perhaps thats the northern way !

Immaculate, Best Ever Breakfast Choice.Posted Aug 9, 2013
Pros: Immaculate Cleanliness, Great Choice at Breakfast, Most Friendly Owners.
Cons: None. (Should have travelled with my own pillow)
Location: Walking distance to several eating places i.e., Indian, pub and hotel food, spanish and italian restaurants.
Stayed overnight on outward and return journey to Scotland to break up the journey. Have stayed previously at same B&B, returned due to immaculate cleanliness, spacious Meadow Suite for x3, best breakfast choice we've ever experienced and most friendly owners. Only scored a 4 for comfort because of need for neck support in pillows which were really soft, should really have travelled with my own. Would highly recommend this B&B to all.

Fantastic servicePosted Jul 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
I will certainly be staying here again. Owners were on a first name basis and provided everything you could need or want in the room. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. Room was very large. Parking was easy to find on the street around the corner from the hotel.
