Excellent, well run hotel. Newly furnished.
Very nice, friendly staff. The whole hotel looks newly decorated. We had three rooms, two of which had brand new furnishings and bathrooms. The third room looked like it was in the process of renovation and was awaiting new furniture but the old stuff was fine. Staff were excellent. Very polite and helpful. Food was very good and the restaurant was well run. Next time we visit the area we will be looking to book this hotel again.

Staff at the hotel were very friendly and obliging There was a great choice of food on our breakfast menu. The only complaint I had was my pillows were very uncomfortable and disturbed my sleep.

The room was an upgrade but was really unhappy with the mould around the bath was very bad A 5 pound mould spray would have eliminated that in 20 minutes so guests would not need to look at it

Great hotel but restaurant staff let it down
The hotel is great but the restaurant really lets it down. Don’t get me wrong the dinner was good but we were kept waiting in the bar, had to order food from the bar and then found several empty tables would could have sat at to wait, but the staff wouldn’t allow it. Breakfast was also disappointing for a full English.

Great overnight stay.
Excellent hotel on the fringes of the lake district. Great restaurant for an evening meal as well. Room was comfortable and clean and was nice and quiet at night.

We had a lovely stay. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Dinner was excellent, and bedroom was spacious, quiet with a very comfortable bed. Would certainly stay again.

We spent one night at the hotel. Two rooms, one of which was a dog friendly room. We were impressed with everything. Food was fabulous, staff were genuine and friendly. Rooms were great value and spotless. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Crooklands.

First impressions of reception was bright with nice furniture. Room we were given was complete opposite.Dark furniture in a dark room.Daylight was minimal due to trees and walls from our bathroom and one next door blocking out light. Lights in the room gave minimal glow meaning we were glad we only had to suffer 1 night in room 8.

Exceptional Stay at Crooklands
Our stay at The Crooklands Hotel was impeccable. The standards were more than exceeding of expectations. The room was cosy, comfortable and accessorised with everything you'd need on your stay including tea, coffee, body wash, soap etc. Cleanliness was exceptional. The dinner service was lovely, and the food was amazing, especially the Lamb Henry. Breakfast included continental options plus a cooked option, for only £12 extra which was a real bargain and tasty to start the day. Overall, this hotel was a perfect stay and I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in this area or around Windermere or Kendal.

Overall good stay. I stayed here for a conference lats year and they had issues with the cold water in the shower, its still happening so it does put a slight dent on the stay. The staff are pleasant and they are constantly renovating which is great to see.

Awful experience
The room had zero ventilation, no ability to cool it off because the window only opened an inch. The twin beds were made for toddlers. People were opening and closing the hall door at all hours and noisy. The tub/shower was so high (past my knees), that taking a shower was not an option, especially for an elderly person. I woke up so hot and angry, it’s a wonder I didn’t shoot lasers out of my eyes. Dinner took forever despite a huge number of wait staff standing around. The salmon was overcooked with zero flavor. Really just an awful stay. Tried to say something to the front desk lady at checkout and she had no response at all. Not even an apology. Quite literally the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Excellent staff , at reception and in the restaurant. Very comfortable stay. However , when I tried to pay my bill my credit card was rejected. I had used it the day before and I used it an hour later to buy Petrol - no problem, I found the blank reaction from the staff member unsettling. The person before me also had their card rejected and had to use a different card. When I pointed this out the staff members reason did not make sense. I had no choice but to used a debit card which was inconvenient for me. Do they prefer that a credit is not used ?

Very handy, just off M6, and convenient for breaking journey from Skye to Wiltshire. Everyone friendly and helpful with good food. Particularly enjoyed the Game Pie special.
