Nice hotel. Lovely lcation and views.Posted Dec 4, 2013
The room was lovely with great views but the shower room was tiny and the shower cold although we were told in the morning that there had been a problem with the hot water system. Booking through Expedia were not informed that evening meal has to be booked 24 hours in advance so we had to go elsewhere for dinner. But the breakfast was exeptional.

ExceptionalPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: The Loation is stunning any time of year. And the food ohhhh the food.
Location: In the middle of nowhere, perfect for walking, yet only a five minute drive to Lake Windermere.
Perfect hideaway retreat, made very welcome. The evening meal was stunning to say the least.

Idyllic romantic relaxing comfortable breakPosted Jun 2, 2013
Pros: The view on the lake, breakfast
Cons: Small bathroom, view from bedroom (no lake view)
The bedroom and bathroom were not a five star B&B (but rather a four*)It is however a good value for money considered the super idilliac romantic location & great breakfast. I would definetely recommend it for a romantic and/or relaxing break away. I am sorry we did not manage to taste the inhouse dinner because it was served quite early and we were going trekking during the day. *all minor reasons (none big or stopping us from going back): small bathroom, details no up to a five star luxury (but probably reflects country house rather than hotel), only one electricity socket in bedroom and far away from a mirror. Our bedroom window was overlooking the parking and there was no privacy if curtains were off (however it was not a busy parking) I would definetly go back but request a room with lake view. Thanks for the lovely stay!

Good out of the way retreatPosted Aug 7, 2012
Very good hotel, excellent views and very quiet. Breakfast is superb and dinner smelled very good too. Wish we had booked for evening dinner. Everything you could ever need is in your room even down to nail files nothing is overlooked at this hotel.

lakeside gemPosted Jul 23, 2012
Pros: setting. house. staff. dogs.
Cons: a little stuffy at dinner, could use some background music to lighten the mood.
Location: nice small English village with great pub.
lovely old country house sat in an amazing setting. fine room with great view. one of the best breakfast i have had at a hotel. staff nice and welcoming. the dinner we had was very nicely cooked and presented but would be only taken as a treat as it was quite posh and a little expensive for an everyday meal. the overall feel of the place is one of a slightly posh country house. not good if you want wild night life but great if you are looking for a nice quiet weekend away with your partner in a beautiful lakeside setting. there is a very good pub a short walk away with English real ales and good food. overall a relaxing weekend treat. we have already booked up to return in November.

A relaxing stay for food loversPosted May 23, 2012
Pros: Good food, and pleasant surroundings
Location: Breath-taking views in a quieter corner of the Lake District
This small hotel has a great position overlooking Esthwaite (lake), and within walking distance of Hill Top Farm, Beatrix Potter's home (now NT). The owner is a good cook, and provides a small 5-course evening menu of freshly cooked food served at 7:30pm, if you make your choices around 6:30pm. The lounge and dining room are comfortable and share the views. This is great for those who enjoy a leisurely evening and the opportunity to enjoy good food and wine.

goodlocation, ok hotel.Posted May 10, 2012 on Hotels.com
It is a beautiful house , great views, but rooms, food and service are just ok. Not good value overall, in the lakes there is a lot of competition, and we would not go back to this hotel.
