Beautiful homely hotelPosted Nov 3, 2013
A lovely welcoming stay made so effortless by Val, Steve and family. Attention to detail and thoughtfulness made all the difference. Located in the very centre of the lake district, it made getting around very easy for visits to all the lakes. Views from the window match those you could spend hours trying to get to on a walk or just while away an evening sitting in the warmth and comfort of the lounge. Superb!

Fantastic stay in a fantastic locationPosted Nov 3, 2013
We had a wonderful stay at the High Grassings Country House for four nights in October. The location is beautiful as it is away from the busy streets of the towns yet still only a very short drive away from all of the main sights of the area. An additional bonus is that it's only a short walk from one of the best Gastro-pubs in the Lakes - something we didn't even realise until we heard about it from friends! Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel in country settingPosted Oct 21, 2013
Pros: The beautiful view, comfortable fittings
Cons: The heating was too high and we had difficulty finding anyone to help us with a request in the early evening.
Location: It is easily accessible to Ambleside, Grasmere and Keswick. Good for walking.
We had a most enjoyable stay at High Grassings. The hotel was extremely comfortable with a wonderful view and Stephen and Valerie were charming an helpful.

Wonderful setting with great gastropub nearbyPosted Sep 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
It's a beautiful remote location, ideal for walkers. The hosts are extremely friendly and welcoming. The Drunken Duck, one mile down the road, is an exceptional pub and I recommend eating there. You'll need to book though, and prices are what you would expect to pay in a good restaurant.

What a lovely hotel to stay at, very welcoming hosts with a personal touch. We were close to Hawkshead and easy access to Coniston if you take the High road. What fantastic surroundings, very peaceful and quiet. Will definitely return.
