“Quick stop at the Lonsdale.”
Pleasantly pleased with the Lonsdale. Nice room, clean bathroom, and great brekfast.
“Excellent stay.”
Excellent stay. New Sealy matress on the 4 poster bed ensured a great nights sleep. Complimentry sherry in room was a nice touch. Excellent full english breakfast and very attentitive and friendly staff. Hotel is close to good restaurants and bars and has free parking. Only slight negative was small ensuite/shower room but everything was very clean and nicely decorated.
“Lonsdale's Andrew and other BESTs”
We've never been met with a more sincere, pleasant welcome than what awaited us this June at our hotel in Windermere. If we were to choose ONE hotel experience to duplicate, it would definitely be our recent visit at the Lonsdale. The house/hotel is lovely in every detail. We were delighted to find the registration area right next to their charming bar and sitting room downstairs. And to top it off, you must meet Andrew - one of the kindest, happiest people we've had the good fortune to encounter at home or abroad.
“great hotel 5 star service and will come back soon”
great staff and owner that are one of a kind and andrew is a very good host and always has a smile and very friendly and is great having a chat too and makes you fell very welcome to his hotel. powel yes that is his name. is a great guy and also makes you fell like your staying at your very own 5 star lake retreat and good at all types of jobs and having a chat to. even though powel works the hours he does he loves his job and shows it at all times of the day from when he gives you your free very nice breakfast to when you have a chat and drink in the lounge and bar at the end of your sight seeing day. the rooms are very big in size and makes you fell very at home and the breakfast is great
“Home from Home”
As soon as we arrived we felt at home. The hotel was very warm and cosy. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. It was in a great location, a short walk from places to eat in the evening. If I was to make one negative comment it would be the fact the shower was very tight and because the shower head was fixed it was a bit difficult to get in and out. But this certainly didin't spoil our stay and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone.
“A retreat in peacefulness”
Andrew our cheerful host immediately made us feel welcomed and special, and continued excellent service until our departure. The Lonsdale is quiet, peaceful, beautiful. The lounge is nice with a strong WiFi signal. The full English breakfast was unforgettable. The table settings were elegant and impeccable. The food was skillfully prepared, the service admirable. My adult son wanted three servings of bacon and that was no problem. One of the nicest places we've ever stayed.
“pleasant suprise”
We were very happy with this hotel overall. Their location is great, a short walk from Lake Windemere. There were planty of resturants around, quaint shops to browse, afternoon sherry which was a very welcoming touch. The staff were very friendly overall, though sometimes appeared overwhelmed at breakfast. Breakfast was included and very filling though a little variation in the menu would be welcome I am sure. The rooms were quite nice and our room had a 4 poster bed and an armoir. Though the bathroom was a little small , it was rennovated and clean. The front rooms may be a little noisy for those who are sensitive to noise. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return someday.
“Great location, great service, will return.”
As a first time visitor to the Lake District I have to say I was bowled over by the area which lived up to expectations. Truly spectacular. The hotel - more a guest house - was centrally located on the main road within Windemere itself, so the shops and restaurants were but a short stroll away. Ideal from my perspective travelling with elderly parents. The Lonsdale has a warm family feel about it and is excellent value for the money. My parents had a modern light and quiet room at the rear of the property while I had a more traditional style room with a four poster overlooking the main road. Both worked out very well. In places the hotel is showing a bit of wear and tear from visitors scuffing their luggage on the walls but overall could not possibly complain. What made our stay particularly pleasurable was the friendly reception provided by Andrew, a member of staff who proved to be very engaging and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent - they know how to do a cooked English. Overall, I have to say we enjoyed our stay in the area and the Lonsdale was an ideal base.
“Great little guest house”
We just stayed one night in Bowness. Beautiful little town and a really nice little guest house. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were professional and friendly. They cooked us a special early breakfast on request which was great. I'd definitely stay again. Check out the local flavour at the bar just down the road.
“Lovely family hotel”
I stayed here with my partner and son who is 18 months. The hotel was very cosy downstairs. Lovely little lounge bar which had some games and TV. It was not that busy most the time at night which made it nice to come back to at night with our son. We could relax and have a drink while he sleep in push chair. We had a family room which was quiet big and had a lovely view. The bed was very comfy. The staff where very helpful and pleasant. My son was a bit naughty at breakfast and they were very good about it. Very accommodating and helpful with recommending restaurants. It was in a great location near to shops, restaurants and bars but not so you heard any noise. I would highly recommend this hotel especially if you have a family. I would go back there.
