Would not sttay againPosted May 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
We arrived a few hours before check in time and were told to "come back at 3". Luckily we had a car to store our luggage. Upon return the reception staff still were not very friendly. We noted that our room did not have any soap. We asked the housekeeping staff who was cleaning another room and they stated that "we are waiting for a shipment". Later that day I did go down to the front desk and they gave me a small bar of soap. There were no black out curtains in the room, so sleeping a little later in the morning was not an option. Also the carpet in the room was worn and dirty - spots of dirt!

Room not what was bookedPosted Apr 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
The lake view consisted of a view of the roof of the breakfast room. Not even sure how it would be physically possible to have a lake view from the hotel!

Excellent traditional hotelPosted Mar 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Great welcoming hotel located in the very centre of Keswick. Both comfortable and traditional including its own lounge and restaurant. Also plenty of other places to eat and drink nearby. Free wi-fi in the bedrooms and a lift to all floors. Many nearby attractions in the town itself including museums, parks, a cinema, theatre, many shops and cafes. Also the surrounding countryside of the North Lakes area. Including walks plus boat trips with Derwentwater only 10-15 minutes walk away. Very good place to chill out and relax as well.

Cons: Heating needs to be on in summer for guests who want it on.
Stayed here for 1 night as I wanted to walk round Derwent Water. On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and professional. Booked a single room but got a double. Room was spacious and comfortable with a very comfy bed, flat screen tv, tea/coffee facilities. Good size modern bathroom with bath and shower (powerful). Breakfast excellent with good choice of cereal, fruit, yogurt, then either a full English or kippers etc. Breakfast room was well presented. Can't comment on evening meal as I ate out. Only one criticism - although the hotel has central heating, it wasn't on!! I didn't complain as only staying one night, but even though it was August, I would have liked to be nice and warm in bed. Will be returning to Keswick next summer and will definitely be staying at the Queens!!
