Lovely hotel in interesting, busy small town in The Lake District. Good quality fittings and linen and the restaurant had superb food at breakfast and dinner. Staff were helpful and pleasant.

“Great location and Great room”

My second night in Ambleside and this was an excellent choice of hotel. We stopped in one of the the Garden rooms and it was spot on. Furnished to a high standard with all mod cons and a small but nice seated area out front to enjoy the sun. Great location for the lake and only a 5 minute stroll back into the town centre.

Very friendly and comfortable hotel in great Lake District location. Room was well appointed and clean. Breakfasts excellent. All staff were very friendly and efficient. So much of the Lake District has become 'tacky' and crowded this hotel at Waterhead and Ambleside is a perfect base for a break or holiday.

A very well located hotel, just across the road from one of the lakes. Very attentive staff and good menu using great local produce.

Excellent hotel, just across the road from Lake Windermere staff supper efficient and friendly it was really welcoming. Restaurant reasonably priced with good food. Look forward to going back.

“Excellent Ambleside Hotel”

We loved staying at the Regent By the Lake Hotel. We were very impressed with the staff who were extremely friendly, and helpful. They showed us to our room when we checked in (very unexpected, but nice)! The room was spacious, and very comfortable with a sofa which was relaxing, and the hotel was also in beautiful surroundings, with the Lake just over the road. The breakfast was particularly good - the restaurant was very clean and pleasant, and there was a lot of choice, including Belgian Waffles, with Maple Syrup which was a favourite of ours. We would highly recommend this hotel.

“Ideal for a mid-week break”

Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Food very good. An enjoyable mid-week break....except for the weather!
