“Friendly and Helpful Staff”

My room was much larger than others at the same price, staff very helpful and the breakfast was good. All you need on a business trip

“Great for a quiet break”

Had a nice room with a big window that you could sit in that overlooked the river. Posh enough to have good food an a nice pool but relaxed enough that we walked in wet and muddy from a long walk in the rain without being scowled at :o)

“Kendal's best hotel”

I stayed there for a few days on my own. I was very happy there everyone was very pleasant and helpful. They have a super gym, swimming pool and Steam room which I spent a lot of time using.I would certainly use this hotel again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

“A pleasant stay.”

We had a quiet stay, which was nice. The breakfast staff were hard working and friendly. It was good to have some childrens' games available to borrow. We had a slight mix-up with parking, with a note left on our windscreen which made us nervous the second night, parking in the overflow, but everything was fine in fact.

“Central and comfortable”

We stayed 2 nights out of season. The facilities were as expected with a cheerful bar serving bar meals. The restaurant only opens if you book at this time of year. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. There are a few stairs to negotiate to the lift, although these stairs had a stair lift. We would use it again for a short stay in the area.

Clean, bright room overlooking river - bathroom clean and tidy with plenty of toiletries. Great buffet breakfast which contained a good English fry-up. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations and was good value.

The Hotel itself was beautiful, the staff polite, the facilities (gym) were an excellent bonus although I felt for the hotel or its grandure and effort elsewhere the decor in our room could have been updated. Also the food menu within its restaurant was very limited and due to it being a choice of a few set meals I was disapointed. Although the quality of the food was not in question. In general it was a really pleasent weekend away.

“Good base for the Lakes”

Pleasant staff, plenty of car-parking (covered) and a leisure club open to residents. On the banks of the River Kent in the centre of Kendal and not too expensive. Breakfast was good and extensive but the rooms could do with air-conditioning - even in May it was a bit warm and airless.

“Pleasant stay”

Location of hotel was superb. Rooms clean and comfortable, bathroom a bit on the small side. The staff were a bit inefficient. We had a two night stay. On the first morning breakfast was fine, although my husband said the sausages were disgusting as well as the black pudding. Second morning, we went for breakfast at 9.10 a.m. to find there was no milk for cereal and no orange juice, apple or water. We had to wait 15 minutes for this to be replenished. Also at breakfast buffet there were no plates and again had to wait at least 10 minutes before someone attended to me. Breakfast variety was okay, no best but acceptable. We did not eat in the hotel. On checking out we wished to use the spa facilities and again had to wait 15 minutes for someone to get us towels. What made our stay great was the fact that they had a balcony overlooking the river where we sat for an afternoon drink and meet three lovely local ladies, Amanda, Linda and Anne, they made our stay even more pleasant and fun.
